Some days in a wildlife journey become truly unforgettable, leaving you with a profound sense of gratitude. This was one such day for me.

For years, it had been my dream to witness a tiger on the white riverbed rocks in Corbett—an iconic and quintessentially Corbett landscape. Despite multiple trips to this breathtaking park, a sighting at Geytiyaro had always eluded me. It’s not just a matter of luck but also a challenge; spotting a tiger in this rugged and remote location within a short three-day window is no small feat. For any wildlife photographer, however, Geytiyaro is a dream location—its beauty and raw wilderness making it a cherished aspiration.

This time, fortune smiled on us in the most extraordinary way. Not only did we get to see a tiger at Geytiyaro, but we were blessed with the sight of Paarwaali and her three cubs. Watching them roam the striking white rocks in both our morning and evening safaris felt like a dream come true. The dreamy, misty winter feel of all these images added an ethereal beauty to this special sighting, making it even more magical.

It’s hard to put into words how special this moment was for me. Seeing four tigers together in such a surreal and unique setting is a memory I’ll hold close to my heart forever—a culmination of patience, persistence, and the magic of Corbett.

This day will undoubtedly stand out as one of the most cherished moments of my wildlife journey. Dreams do come true, and sometimes, they surpass your expectations in the most breathtaking ways.

The grasslands are home to variety of species like the graceful blackbuck antelope, Wolves, Striped Hyena, Jungle Cat, Blue bull, various bird species, and unique flora. Sadly, plastic pollution harms wildlife and disrupts the natural beauty of this environment.

💡 Why should we care?
• Animals Mistake Plastic for Food: Animals often ingest plastic, which can lead to severe health issues or even death.
• Soil and Water Contamination: Plastic waste pollutes the soil and water, affecting the entire ecosystem.
• Ruins Natural Beauty: Plastic litter diminishes the pristine beauty of the grasslands.

🚫 What can YOU do to help?
1. Avoid carrying single-use plastic (bottles, bags, wrappers) into the grasslands.
2. Use eco-friendly alternatives like reusable bottles, cloth bags, and biodegradable packaging.
3. Take your trash with you when leaving. Dispose of it in designated bins
4. Spread awareness among friends and family about the harmful effects of plastic on wildlife and nature.

Together, we can protect the grasslands and it can remain a safe haven for wildlife. 🌍🌱

"A Timely Encounter: The Camouflaged Majesty of the Jungle"

After a couple of safaris without any big cat sightings, our anticipation grew as we embarked on the final safari of the Friends of Bandipur workshop. As we ventured into the jungle, "Tiger Shamanna," our driver, suddenly accelerated, his sharp instincts suggesting he had spotted something.

There it was—a male leopard, perfectly camouflaged amidst the dry foliage and greenery. Guided by our naturalist's keen eye, we finally located the elusive predator. Leopards are masters of disguise, blending seamlessly with their surroundings, and this rare sighting felt like a stroke of fortune.

The moment was fleeting yet priceless. Had we been even a few seconds late, we might have missed it entirely. As the leopard, resting gracefully amidst the lush green, stood and vanished into the bushes, the memory of its regal presence left an indelible mark on our hearts.

Laikipia, located in central Kenya, is a diverse and rugged landscape that spans savannas, forests, and arid plains, making it a haven for wildlife. The terrain is marked by rolling hills, rocky outcrops, and scattered acacia woodlands, creating a perfect blend of open spaces and sheltered areas for animals to thrive. The region’s unique topography offers a variety of habitats, from riverine areas to vast grasslands, and is home to a remarkable array of species, including elephants, lions, and rare predators like Giza the black leopard. This varied landscape not only supports a rich biodiversity but also provides the perfect backdrop for rare wildlife encounters.

Giza, the elusive black leopard of Laikipia, is a rare and mesmerizing sight. Known for her striking coat and solitary nature, she roams the expansive landscapes with grace and stealth. During our encounter, we got her walking towards us, and she appeared very comfortable in our presence, moving with a calm confidence that reflected her familiarity with the terrain. It was a fleeting but unforgettable moment, showcasing the serene power and beauty of this incredible predator.

This was one of the most lucky sighting ever though we hadn't sighted a tiger for the first time in since 2016, but this came as a blessing in disguise and we were lucky to witness a Crested Hawk Eagle preying on a Jungle Fowl!! This will go as a luckiest sighting ever!!
