The past few days have been exhilarating for Blitzcode participants, to say the least! From intense coding sessions over the weekend, collaborating remotely and in-person, to a series of presentations and the thrill of getting selected to move to the next round, the experience has been unforgettable. After three weeks of fierce competition, Blitzcode 2024 has finally come to a close. The winners of this year's event will be announced during a special ceremony on September 3rd.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants for bringing their A-game to this year's contest, and to our judges for their unwavering patience and support. The success of this year's event would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our participants, judges, core team members, and support staff.

And just like that, our 2024 batch of Engineering interns have graduated from the Hyperjump internship program, and have now become full-time members!

During a special graduation and demo day ceremony yesterday, the interns demonstrated their learnings from the past six months to a panel of senior tech leaders from Sabre. They also had the opportunity to hear from leaders like Ashish Kasi and Rency Mathew, who shared stories of navigating their first year in the corporate realm and offered valuable tips on building a successful career.

Blitzcode – Sabre’s flagship coding event is back for its sixth year! Unlike regular hackathons that primarily focus on developing blue-sky ideas, Blitzcode emphasizes innovation in our everyday work. This unique initiative consistently pushes the boundaries of technology, delivering production-ready solutions that enhance the world of travel technology. Over the past five editions, nearly 1,700 participants have dedicated more than 110,000 hours of coding, resulting in the creation of over 40+ functional solutions tailored to address specific customer requirements.

As part of the World Environment Month celebrations at Sabre Bengaluru GCC, our Sustainability CoP team organized an inspiring event in the office to celebrate our planet and promote Sabre’s sustainability initiatives. During the event, our CoP leaders shared powerful insights on the importance of ESG, reinforcing our commitment to contributing to a sustainable future. The event also featured a thought-provoking skit that highlighted the critical themes of land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. The vibrant sea of green and blue outfits made for fantastic photos and demonstrated our collective dedication to sustainability.

We recently launched the ‘Generative AI Learning Program’ in Bengaluru GCC in collaboration with Google Cloud. This two-month ‘learn and apply’ program involves self-paced courses at foundational and practitioner levels. Participants will have the chance to grasp and apply Generative AI concepts to Sabre use cases while adhering to Google’s best practices.

Google trainers will periodically conduct an in-person, full-day practitioner bootcamp to help participants apply the Gen AI concepts learned during the self-paced practitioner training to curated Sabre use cases, to make them production-ready. Initiatives like these will help Sabre and our team members remain at the forefront of major Gen AI advancements, potentially driving significant efficiencies and growth in the travel industry.
