Ministry of Tourism, GoI (North) holds Jammu Snow 25K Run Safari Marathon in Bhaderwah valley

The first-ever snow marathon was held at tourist destination Gurdanda on Bhaderwah-Pathankot inter state road in UT Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan along with Sanjay Sachan-Tourist Information Officer, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, Delhi and Marcos P. Rai, Joint Secretary-Sikkim Tourism flagged off the marathon in presence of SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom and CO 4RR Rajat Parmar, at 11’clock in the morning in which more than 150 runners from across the country and from the Army and police competed in the race amid very low temperature at an altitude of over 12,000-feet where low oxygen levels make breathing tough during the normal walk, leave aside running.

The historical marathon was organised by Ministry of Tourism (North), Govt of India through Real Sports India in collaboration of local Organisation 'Amazing Bhaderwah Tourism Association' with full support of District administration Doda, J&K Tourism, Indian Army (4RR), Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu, J&K Police, Border Roads Organisation 118 RCC and the people of Bhaderwah under the banner 'Jammu Snow 25K Run Safari'.
The marathon was held in three categories—full marathon (25 km), half marathon (10 km), and 5-km run through snow covered road.The marathon concluded back at Gurdanda where a felicitation function was organized. The winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions of all 3 categories were given trophies and gift hampers along with medals and certificates, while all participants were also presented certificates.

By this event Ministry of Tourism, GoI (North) have initiated Yuva Tourism India project in Bhaderwah alongwith Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu with many more future plans to develop and clean Green Bhaderwah.

Kanchoth festival also known as Gauri Tritiya, is celebrated in Bhaderwah every year in Shukla Paksha of Magha maas, which generally falls in the month of Jan. - Feb. every year.

The festival begins with a puja, where married women dressed in traditional attire assemble near a temple or water body and pray for the long life of their husbands in a traditional manner.

Ethnic dishes are prepared on this occasion in every household and women go from house to house to seek blessings by touching the feet of elders as well as the younger ones, where they are also served delicious food, the course is called 'Thel'.

Symbolic of the rich tradition and culture, this four-day ancient and religious festival is also celebrated with great enthusiasm in Ramban and parts of Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

BFPC Limited Five Ethnic Food Products Unveiled, DC Doda says work of BFPC Limited is appreciable, shall surely increase the farmer's income.

Deputy Commissioner Doda, Shri Vishesh Paul Mahajan, today unveiled five ethnic food products of Bhadrakashi Fruits Producer Company Limited under Bhadarwahh brand, which include the famous Rajmash, Kadam Pickle, Apple Jam, Rice and Walnut Kernels.

The simple yet impressive event was organized at the DC office premises to formally launch the products under the Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) scheme in presence of BFPCL stakeholders include Chairman, Shri Ramneek Manhas, Directors, Yog Raj Manhas, Shri Nirmal Singh and Shri Faiz Ullah Sheikh.

Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of BFPC Limited and said that the Government through formation and promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) is striving to increase the farmer's income. He said that the launch of these five products shall pave the way for launch of more such indigenous products by the local farmers under FPO scheme. He further informed that more such groups under FPO are being formulated in the district to scale-up production, branding and marketing of the produces. He said that the launched Products shall be available in markets at Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur and Jammu initially. DC has advised the company to advertise the products and tie-up with army canteens and tourism development agencies so that the products can be made available in Canteens and tourist places of the UT.

Tourists across the country enjoy snow, music, food and entertainment during the Vibrant Bhaderwah Festival

New year 2023 was welcomed by thousands of tourists from across the country with great enthusiasm and fervour. Tourists enjoyed Music, Cycling, Sledging, Food and Fun in snow at Guldanda Bhaderwah. A colourful cultural/ musical event was held at famed Gatha Park, mesmerising the audience with their stunning performance on the last evening of the year 2022.

The Vibrant Bhaderwah Festival has been organised for the first time by the District Administartion with the support of Jammu Tourism, Army (4 RR) and tourism stake holders in the Bhaderwah Valley
The grand success of the festival is being viewed as a big leap towards making Bhaderwah most favoured and must visit Tourist destination. The new year celebrations in Bhaderwah Valley were planned by District Administration at different locations to add festivity to event and for enhanced pleasure and amusement for the visitors. Sunny day at Guldanda with stalls of different varieties of food, music, snow cycling and other facilities kept the tourists spell bound. In the evening at the Gatha Park folk music and cultural presentation, food stalls and other entertainment activities created indelible impression in the minds and hearts of the audience. People from all walks of life, all age groups and from many states of the country loved Bhaderwah and the way, the events were planned and presented throughout the day.

In a statement the DC Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan has thanked the tourists and stated that he hoped they shall be the ambassadors of hospitality and beauty of Bhaderwah.

He further complimented the SSP Doda for the fine security arrangements put in place and OC 118 RCC for the wonderful job of ensuring the Bhaderwah Bani Basholi road traffic worthy.

Important among those who attended the festival include Sh H Rajesh Prasad, Principal Secretary PDD, CO 4RR and Dr Ajay Wakhloo, famed Gynaecologist & CMD of Ankur Maitrika Hospital, and Sanjeev Ganjoo MD City Bank New York.
