TABO MONASTERY IN SPITI VALLEY
Tabo Monastery is an ancient monastery that was established in 996 CE. It is considered to be an important monastery and is often referred to as the Ajanta of the Himalayas. The complex has 9 temples and many stupas—all of which are made in mud and have been standing like this for more than 1000 years. The main temple is an assembly hall where monks used to pray together. This hall has all its walls painted with Buddhist stories. There are stories of the life of Shakyamuni (the Buddha) and various Bodhisattvas. No photography of the paintings is allowed at Tabo Monastery though you can take pictures of the complex outside. However, picture postcards of these beautiful paintings are available with monks for sale. WhatsApp for Buddha Tours, with language guides (+91) 9971163955

This story is very old. At that time, Mahatma Gautam Buddha was spreading the teachings of Buddhism all over India.

In connection with the propagation of religion, he was walking in a village with some of his followers. After travelling for a while he became thirsty and asked one of his disciples to get him some water from the pond in the village. When the disciple reached the pond he saw that many people were cleaning their clothes and many were bathing their cows. The water in the pond looked very dirty and unfit for drinking. So he went back without water.
When Lord Buddha could not hold back his thirst he sent another disciple to fetch some water. This disciple came back with a pot full of drinking water.
Seeing this, Mahatma Buddha was a little surprised. He asked the disciple '' the water in the pond was dirty, then where did you bring this pot full of clean water ?''
The disciple said, ‘Yes Guruji, the water of that pond was very dirty yet I went and sat next to the pond and waited until the villagers finished their work and went home . Then I continued to wait patiently for all the mud in the pond to settle down at its bottom. Thats when I filled a pot with clean water floating on top..
Mahatma Buddha was very pleased to hear this disciple’s answer and used this incident as a lesson to teach every one that difficulties or challenges in life are like the muddy water, if we remain calm and maintain patience and use our wisdom we will be able to sail over the difficulties and come out winner .

Phugtal Monastery or Phugtal Gompa (often transliterated as Phuktal) is a Buddhist monastery located in the remote Lungnak Valley in south-eastern Zanskar, in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, in Northern India. It is one of the only Buddhist monasteries in Ladakh that can still be reached only by foot. A road is expected to be built up to the monastery, however, for now, it is a day's walk from Village Cha or Village Khangsaar
Almost blending into the rocky mountain around it, the Phuktal Monastery in Zanskar is an amazing sight. Even though the monastery was built in the 12th century, Phuktal remained undiscovered to the world until the early 19th century!

The First Sermon at Deer Park Sarnath (Varanasi)
The Buddha said, “Then please listen, my friends. I have found the Great Way, and I will show it to you.
You will be the first to hear my Teaching. This Dharma is not the result of thinking. It is the fruit of direct experience. Listen serenely with all your awareness.”
The Buddha’s voice was filled with such spiritual authority that his five friends joined their palms and looked up at him. Kondanna spoke for them all, “Please, friend Gautama, show us compassion and teach us the Way.”
