(Unknown tourist place installment in Chamoli district)
From the point of view of tourism in the marginal district of Chamoli, there are many such anonymous tourist places which are still away from the eyes of the country and the world. If such places are made aware of the country, the world through proper publicity and dissemination, then it will not only promote tourism but also provide employment opportunities to the local youth. Due to which the steps of youth who are being forced to migrate in the hope of employment will be able to stop in their own mountain. After Tadag Tal in the Nijmula Valley of Chamoli district, one such anonymous treasure trove of seven lakes is in disarray, which is known as the sacred Saptkund. Seeing this priceless blessings of nature, you will also say wahhahhah.
After 124 years, the rare Lippirus Pygmai flower found in the Saptkund track..
The Corona period proved to be a lifeline for the Himalayas. Due to the closure of human movement in the Bugyal and High Himalayan regions of the Himalayas during the Corona period, the Himalayan flora has got a new life. It is heartwarming to get such a good news. All the environmentalists and nature lovers are extremely happy. After a gap of 124 years, a rare species of flower 'Liparis Pygmai' has blossomed in the country. The flower has been confirmed to bloom in the Saptkund trek area located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. For the first time, a rare flower of orchid species 'Liparis pygmia' has been found in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This discovery by Research Fellow Manoj Singh and Ranger Harish Negi of the Forest Research Center has also been published in the prestigious French Journal Ricardiana. According to this discovery published in the journal, it is also the first time that this flower has been seen in the western Himalayas. This flower was seen near Ghansal Udiyar (cave) on Saptkund trek at an altitude of 3800 meters in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Earlier this flower was seen in Sikkim in 1892 and 1877 and then later in 1896 in West Bengal. According to the research paper, there are about 320 species of 'Liparis pygmai', out of which about 48 species are in the country. Saptkund is a treasure trove of biodiversity. Last year also, beds of rare species of fen lotus were seen around the Saptkund. Which are indications that the eco-system here is favorable for the Himalayan flora.
Where is the Saptakund!
The priceless blessings of nature are situated at a distance of 24 km from Jhinjhi village in the Nijmula valley of Chamoli, full of natural treasures. Saptakund is a group of seven lakes or seven pools. Here all these seven pools are situated at a distance of half a kilometer from each other. The presence of seven lakes in the Himalayas at an altitude of about 5 thousand meters is a matter of curiosity and wonder in itself. On the other hand, Saptakund is a thrilling track for adventure tourism and mountain enthusiasts.
- These are seven pools!
Manish Negi, manager of Devbhoomi Adventure and Trekker and a young man who conducts the Saptkund trek, says that out of the seven lakes present in Saptakund, the water in six lakes is very cold while the water in one lake is hot. Taking a bath in the hot water tank removes all the tiredness of the tourists. The seven kunds are known as Parvati Kund, Ganesh Kund, Shiv Kund, Rishi Narad Kund, Nandi Kund, Bhairav Kund, Shakti Kund. The water of six of these seven pools is so cold that even taking a dip in it becomes difficult, while the water of one pool is so hot that bathing in it removes the tiredness of tourists. To reach Saptakund, one has to cross one of the most difficult walking tracks in Asia. Saptkund track is no less than a haven for adventure trekking enthusiasts. But due to lack of proper publicity and dissemination, these precious blessings of nature are still away from the eyes of the world.
- This is religious belief!
Mohan Negi, the village head of Irani village, tells that Saptkund is the abode of Lord Shiva. Every year on the day of Nanda Ashtami held in the month of Bhadon, the villagers of Nijmula Valley including local villages Irani, Jhinjhi, Pana, Ramni, Durmi, Pagana reach here and worship Lord Shiva and Bhagwati Nanda. Whereas in the annual Lokjaat Yatra of Mother Nanda Kurud, Dasholi Doli Nanda reaches the culmination of Saptkund every 6 years and returns to Ramni village after completing the Lokjaat. Nature lovers and trekkers Briharshraj Tadiyal Briharshraj Tariyal and Sukhbir Singh, who have toured every corner of the Himalayas, say that the peace and happiness that comes in the Saptakund is nowhere else. Here the invisible divine power resides which gives new energy to the body. These powers can be felt by coming here. The beauty of Saptkund will fascinate you. There is no such beauty anywhere else. This is the real heaven present in the Himalayas.
Folk belief is associated with the Khappar of Maa Kali!
Maa Kali had written the names of the people who died in the Mahabharata war on her Khappar. Arjuna's name was also included in this. Then Lord Krishna told this to Draupadi and asked her to do penance for Mother Parvati. Pleased with Draupadi's penance, Goddess Parvati appeared to her. Then Draupadi asked him about the khappar of mother Kali. Mother told them that this khappar is present in Saptkund. After this Mata Parvati herself reached the Saptkund and after erasing the name of Arjuna from the Khappar, broke it into two halves. It is believed that half of this Khapar is present in Kolkata and half in Saptkund. Every year a large number of Bengali trekkers reach Saptkund. At the same time, local people believe that there are 11 pools, not seven, in the Nijmula valley. But, people know only about the seven locks. Where are the remaining four talas, no one knows. The Saptakund group is situated at the foothills of Nanda Ghunghuti. The specialty of the Nanda Ghunghuti ranges is that no ship ever passes near it, because its magnetic potential is very high.
- The whole track is full of views of Himalayas!
The distance from Jhinjhi village and Irani village to Saptkund can be covered by walking about 24 km. Local residents Mohan Singh Negi and Chandu Negi say that you can see the Himalayas in the Saptkund track. During the track, there is an opportunity to get rid of fatigue in the shade of different types of trees including Baanj, Burans, Deodar, Kail, Khoru, Bhoj, while in the middle of Saptkund, there are hundreds of types of velvety Bugyal in Simbein, 10 km from Jhinjhi village. The beauty of flowers fascinates the tourists as well as the fatigue also vanishes. Seeing Simbe Bugyal, tourists forget about the Valley of Flowers. At the same time, medicinal plants can also be seen during this time. While the glimpse and chirping of dozens of Himalayan fauna and birds are also seen, which is very enjoyable. The scenic beauty and waterfalls throughout the track also enthrall. Vimal Malasi, manager of Chase Himalaya, says that as soon as they reach Saptkund, tourists get an opportunity to see the panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. Large ranges of Himalayas including Nanda Ghunghuti, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Bandarpunchhu, can be seen from Saptkund. On reaching here, it is felt as if God himself has come and carved the beauty of this place. But even after all the merits, the Saptakund is still out of sight of the country and the world. The government and the tourism department should make a special action plan to bring Saptakund on the tourism map so that tourism will be encouraged as well as employment opportunities will be provided to the local youth.
This is how the Saptakund can be reached!
