NOTE FROM EMIRATES FOR TRAVELLERS TO USA

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a security directive requiring passengers on select flights to the United States to place all electronic devices larger than a cell phone or smart phone in their checked luggage.

As per the directive, except for medical devices, electronic devices which are larger than a cell phone/smart phone cannot be carried in the cabin of the aircraft.

This is applicable to all US-bound passengers from Dubai International Airport, whether originating or transiting through. Emirates requests that all passengers travelling to the US pack all electronic devices larger than a smart phone in their checked-in baggage.

The new requirement only affects flights departing for the United States from the following
10 specific airports :

Queen Alia International Airport (AMM)
Cairo International Airport (CAI)
Ataturk International International (IST)
King Abdul-Aziz International Airport (JED)
King Khalid International Airport (RUH)
Kuwait International Airport (KWI)
Mohammed V Airport (CMN)
Hamad International Airport (DOH)
Dubai International Airport (DXB)
Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH)

Large electronic devices will continue to be allowed in the cabin on all flights originating in the United States. The new security directive is effective from 25 March 2017 and will be in effect indefinitely.

Kindly note : Spare batteries, medical devices and power banks are exempted from the
rule and therefore can be carried in the cabin baggage.

Please ensure all customers travelling to the USA are aware of the above directive.

The increased availability of appointments has been made possible through a temporary increase in staffing to help eliminate wait times for travelers from India. Applicants may reschedule previously–made appointments and encourage their family members and friends who may have delayed applying for a visa to apply now. Earlier in the month of May, the Mission asked the visa applicants to apply well in advance due to their personal constraints in the busy summer season.

Photo Requirement:
