ಯಗಚಿ ನದಿಯ ದಂಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬೇಲೂರಿನ ಚನ್ನಕೇಶವ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಹೊಯ್ಸಳ ರಾಜ ವಿಷ್ಣುವರ್ಧನನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಂದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮಗನಾದ ದಾಸೋಜ ಮತ್ತು ಚವನ ಎಂಬ ಕುಶಲಕಲಾಕಾರರಿಂದ ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳಿಗೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಕೆತ್ತನೆಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೊಯ್ಸಳರು ಮೃದು ಬಳಪದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿದ್ದರು. ದರ್ಪಣಸುಂದರಿ ಶಿಲ್ಪ, ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಭವ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಬೇಲೂರಿನ ಚೆನ್ನಕೇಶವ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆಗೆ ಮನಸೋಲದವರಿಲ್ಲ ಸೋತು ಅಚ್ಚರಿಯಾಗದವರಿಲ್ಲ, ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲಾವಿದನ ಈ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಕೆತ್ತನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಲಾ ನೈಪುಣ್ಯತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೈಚಳಕ ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಕರವಾಗಿದೆ.

📍Chennakeshava Temple

The Channakesava Temple at Belur on the banks of the Yagachi River was built by the artisans Dasoja and Chavana, father and son, during the reign of Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana. The Hoysalas used soft caramel stone for the most delicate carvings on the temple buildings. The Darpanasundari highlights the beauty and grandeur of the temple as it considered one of the most unique sculptures of the Chennakesava Temple at Belur.

ಯುನೆಸ್ಕೋ ವಿಶ್ವ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ತಾಣವಾಗಿರುವ ಹಂಪಿಯ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ ನರಸಿಂಹಸ್ವಾಮಿ ವಿಗ್ರಹ ಅತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆತ್ತಲಾದ ಉಗ್ರ ನರಸಿಂಹನ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುವ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯ ರೂಪ ಅಮೋಘವಾದದ್ದು. ತೆರದ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಂತಿರುವ ಹಂಪಿಯ ಅದ್ವಿತೀಯ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪವನ್ನು ಕಣ್ ತುಂಬಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲ್ಲು ದೇಶದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಆಗಮಿಸುವುದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ.

📍Lakshmi Yoga Narasimhaswamy Temple

Maravanthe is a village and a beach in Byndoor Taluk, Udupi District, Karnataka, India.
It is about 115 km from industrial hub Mangalore, 55 km from Udupi.18 km from Kundapura. and 21 km from Byndoor. NH-66 (erstwhile NH-17) runs next to the beach and the Suparnika River flows on the other side of the road. Outlook traveller considers it one of Karnataka's most beautiful beaches.

The Suparnika River, which almost touches the Arabian Sea here, makes a U-turn and goes westward to join the sea after a journey of nearly more than 10 km (6.2 mi).

Wall reliefs and friezes on the exterior wall of Kedareshwara temple, Halebidu.

The wall is intricately carved. There are sculptures of Hindu deities on the top while its lowest layers consist of bands with friezes that consist of (from bottom to top) elephants, horsemen, scrolls, lions, scrolls and floral designs, scenes from Hindu epics, ancient beasts (makara) and swans., the artists captured the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, and the main episodes of the Bhagavata.
The elephants symbolise stability and strength and are considered as the weight lifters of the temple.
Next come the horses which symbolise speed, while the lions above them are for courage.
There are panels with scrolls and floral designs signifying beauty, where as the swans symbolise fortune.

ದೇಶದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದ ಕುದ್ರೋಳಿ ಗೋಕರ್ಣನಾಥೇಶ್ವರ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ತತ್ವಜ್ಞಾನಿ, ಸಂತ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸುಧಾರಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ನಾರಾಯಣ ಗುರು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಚೋಳರು ಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸುವ ಶೈಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ಪೌರಾಣಿಕ ದಂತಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುವ ಭಿತ್ತಿಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ನವರಾತ್ರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿವರಾತ್ರಿ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುವ ಎರಡು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಉತ್ಸವಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದು ದಸರಾ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು ಜನಪ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ದಸರಾ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಕರಾವಳಿಯು ದೇಶದೆಲ್ಲೆಡೆಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರನ್ನು ತನ್ನತ್ತ ಸೆಳೆಯುವ ಸುಂದರ ತಾಣವಾಗಿದೆ.

📍Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, Mangalore

Sri Narayana Guru, a renowned philosopher, saint, and social reformer, constructed Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwar Temple, one of the most stunning temples in the nation. Annamalaiyar Temple – Sixth Prakaram – Thirumanjana Gopuram

The southern tower of the outermost court is called Thirumanjana gopuram. Thirumanjanam is the holy water for the bath of a deity. Every day in the morning, before opening the gate of the temple, holy water is brought through the southern tower and spilled near the flag post. Hence this tower is called Thirumanjana gopuram. This tower has nine storeys and 157 feet in height.

The base of the Thirumanjana Gopura is later than that of the Pey Gopura (West Gopura). It also differs from the Western Gopura in that it has a “yali” above the frontal lotus projection of the corbel clusters of its upper course, more prominent lotus centres and wider niches.
The Thirumanjana Gopura is the most modern of all the four Temple Gopurams because of the heaviness of the plastering and changes introduced during an earlier restoration of its pilaster—which indicates that it is in fact probably older than both Pey and Ammani Amman Gopuram spires.

The bases of all four towers of the outer court are generally ascribed to Krishnadevaraya. The tower might have been completed by later Nayak rulers.

The Mysterious Sahasralinga of Karnataka!

Shalmala river in Sirsi surrounded by lush green forests hides an incredible heritage and a piece of history, thousand of lingas are carved on rocks in this part of river famously known as Sahasralinga.

The area is serene with divine environment found amidst the lush green nature, making it a great place to not just relax, but also attain some of mental solace in the presence of Lord Shiva, placed on the rocks spotted in the river here.

It is suggested to visit the place only when the water level is low; otherwise, the lingas remain underwater, making them almost impossible to view clearly.

Today, let us get to know more about the mysterious Sahasralinga in Karnataka, which have left many of us wondering about its origins. Many of us know about the famous Sahasralinga pilgrimage in the town of Sirsi, Karnataka. Did you also know that there is another Sahasralinga in Cambodia? Siem Reap, a quaint city in Cambodia is where you can see the Sahasralinga means a 1000 Shiva Lingas. These thousand lingas are carved at both places and are dedicated to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva.

The Sahasralinga is a pilgrimage site located in Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It is situated in the Shalmala River and is famous for being the location where almost 1000 Shivalingas that are carved on rocks in the river, are scattered all over.

As far as history goes, these 1000 lingas were installed by the ruler Sadashivaraya of the Vijayanagar Kingdom, sometime between years 1678 & 1718. The unique thing about the place is that each linga features a carving of Nandi, the bull right in front of it.

Each year, on the day of Maha Shivratri, devotees from across the country visit here to perform Shiva puja. The place looks mysterious and lovely in every way, as you get those many lingas together peeking through the river waters. These lingas though, do not come in the same shape or size, and each one is different from the other.

Given the force of river water, some of these lingas lost their shape and some are dislodged or completely disfigured. It is suggested to visit the place only when the water level is low. Because otherwise, the lingas remain underwater, making them almost impossible to view clearly.
