The Arunachaleswarar Temple is one of the temples associated with the Pancha Bhoota Stalas — representing the element of fire. The temple complex has great architectural value, with many uniquely built shrines and halls.
The Arunachala Hill and the temple are steeped in legend. It is said that Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva, once playfully closed his eyes. This engulfed the earth and the universe in darkness for years. As a result of this, Parvati performed penance and it is said that Shiva appeared as a column on fire atop the Arunachala Hill, returning light to the world.
Glimpses from the Southern Sojourn, where participants immersed themselves into a process to ignite the element of fire within 🔥

Honored as the 43rd among the 84 sacred lingas in Avanti (now Ujjain), the Angareshwar Mahadev linga has a fascinating story.
Legend has it that Angarak, born from Shiva's ember, grew uncontrollably, causing concern among the Gods. To help, Shiva merged Angarak into the Angarkeshwar Mahadev linga in Ujjain. Shiva blessed Angarak, making Chaturthi a special day for devotees to pray for good fortune.
Ujjain, thought to be Mars's birthplace (as per the Skanda Puran), attracts devotees seeking Angareshwar Mahadev's blessings to counteract Mars's effects and usher in prosperity.
