This form of Shiva is depicted with 25 heads, 75 eyes, and 50 arms and is one of many intricate carvings on the gopuram of Thanumalayan Temple in Suchindram, Tamil Nadu.
In South India, there are temples which house idols made of nine deadly poisons, known as navapashanams. The alchemy of creating these idols transform the poisons into a healing medicinal substance.
Water is poured over the deity and Devotees drink it as theerth, to take in the Divine essence.

Shiva, also known as the Adiyogi - the first yogi, or Adipurush - the first man, was a cosmic phenomenon, present across the macrocosm, emptiness and everything, all at once, he was called ‘The Dark One’.
Then there was his counterpart, Shakti, a great force of energy that danced around Shiva wildly, disturbing him from his penance. In anger, he rose and roared as he spat out the galaxies in a non-physical form. When Shiva and Shakti converged, it resulted in the expulsion of physical matter, as we experience it today.

Pradakshina, or circumambulation, involves walking clockwise around a sacred space, especially in the northern hemisphere where a natural phenomenon often moves in the same direction. This alignment with the energy flow of nature, enhances one's connection to spiritual dimensions.

Honored as the 43rd among the 84 sacred lingas in Avanti (now Ujjain), the Angareshwar Mahadev linga has a fascinating story. Legend has it that Angarak, born from Shiva's ember, grew uncontrollably, causing concern among the Gods. To help, Shiva merged Angarak into the Angarkeshwar Mahadev linga in Ujjain. Shiva blessed Angarak, making Chaturthi a special day for devotees to pray for good fortune. Ujjain, thought to be Mars's birthplace (as per the Skanda Puran), attracts devotees seeking Angareshwar Mahadev's blessings to counteract Mars's effects and usher in prosperity.
