Happy Makar Sankranti to all !

This harvest festival is celebrated in many states of India like Pongal in South India, Lohari in Punjab region, Magh Bihu in Assam, Maghi etc.
In the Gorkha (Nepali) community, this day marks the end of winter solstice, and with the arrival of spring, welcoming warm and longer days, and is known/celebrated as the Maghe Sankranti. The day begins with a bathing ritual, traditionally saluting the sun, known as " Makar snan". Sweet potato (Sakharkhand), tubes and yams of different flavors, size and color such as Ghar tarul , ban tarul, simbale, pindalu , boiled delicious food. Sweets made from roasted sesame seeds and jaggery are known as ' Teel mithai' or other types of food preparation indicates traditional food preservation in the harvesting diet.
