Syama & I got to lead a group right after 3 days of continuous heavy snowfall. It was more than what we had expected. 6ft snowfall at 2nd campsite.

We both were excited to try out our adventure to sleep in the open in a snow cave. As soon as we reached the campsite, both of us along with Sandy dugout this cave. It took us hardly 30 mins.

At 8pm, we were ready to sleep when Syama told me “let’s keep it open from the top”
I was skeptical as the temperature was sub zero but still I wanted to give it a shot. So we got into the sleeping bag and went straight to sleep.

To my surprise it was extremely warm. I was more than comfortable.

Not just that, I woke up to a billion star view in the night. That was the best moment. It was warm & quiet. I gazed for a long time before I gave a wake up call at 2:30 in the night for our summit push.”
