SASAGAWA NAGARE
Sasagawa Nagare (which translates to Sasagawa Flow) is an 11-kilometre stretch of coastline that directly faces the Sea of Japan in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture.
The coastline was designated a Place of Scenic Beauty and a Natural Monument in 1927 and has also been selected as one of the 100 Landscapes of Japan.
The coastline is jagged by rock formations jutting out of the sea along the shoreline, which have been formed over the years by soil and sea wave erosion. Some of them are even named for their unique shapes: look out for Megane-iwa (the spectacles rock) and Kyoryu-iwa (the dinosaur rock), which are said to resemble a pair of spectacles and a dinosaur, respectively!
A sightseeing boat operates for about 40 minutes, allowing visitors to enjoy the charm of the scenic coastline and the strange rock formations. One can also feed the seagulls on the cruise.

NISHIKIGOI NO SATO
Nishikigoi no Sato is the only colored carp exhibition facility in the world. Nishikigoi (colored carp) is said to have begun in Niigata Prefecture in the first half of the 19th century, when a mutation produced a colored "oddity" among originally edible carp.
Subsequent research and improvement led to a variety of varieties. Because of its wide variety and high quality, it is now considered a "swimming gem" of an appreciating fish. Nishikigoi have even attracted attention from overseas, and it is said that each Nishikigoi has a different color and pattern, and no two are the same.
At Nishikigoi no Sato, there is a Japanese garden and an indoor viewing pond where visitors can admire more than 300 colored carp of about 20 varieties swimming gracefully up close. There is also a section where visitors can learn about the history and varieties.
Along with the tour of Nishikigoi no Sato, the guests can enjoy the Hegi Soba set meal or Uonuma Koshihikari brand rice set meal along with tasty local sake. This place also offers the opportunity to weave traditional textiles like Ojiya Chijimi textiles.
Nishikigoi no Sato is located in the center of Ojiya City and is five minutes away from the Ojiya Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway.

Furumachi Area, Niigata City
Furumachi is one of Japan’s famous Geigi(geisha) districts. With 200 years of history, the Niigata Furumachi Geigi are an important cultural legacy of Niigata as a port city. About 200 years ago, Niigata was flourishing as a major port-of-call and trade town on the Kitamaebune sea route. At that time, the Geigi district was formed, and Niigata’s Furumachi Geigi came to entertain guests with elegant performances. Geigi are both a vital part of Niigata’s traditional arts and the symbol of the Furumachi District, where atmospheric streets of traditional Ryotei restaurants serve fresh, seasonal cuisine together with Japan’s best rice and local saké.
