Visited a few places in old Delhi yesterday to see what is the progress in the tourism while all the sector for domestic or international has been opened by the Gov. Of India.
I have selected old Delhi because many monuments are very close to eachother and associated with a very old and popular bazaar of old Delhi the chandni chowk is the main attraction of all types of visitors.
It is because one can see a real touch of India in these markets the beautiful shopping arcades and many vendors selling different articles, food items, low cost household items clothes, shoes at different places and on the roads as well, that make these bazaars congested and slow, but in reality the padestrain does not get affected with such traffic chaos but many times responsible for such congestion on roads.
All in all this is a ground level adventure for many visitors to cross the streets and do not get lost in these bazaar. The historical Chandni chowk established by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan around the largest mosque of India the Jama mosque. It is built soon after the Red fort was completed. Jama mosque is situated on a high platform approched by 35 flights of steps from three sides.
It has three gates and a big courtyard and a prayer hall on the west side. It is built of red sandstone and white marble with many inscriptional panel on its 11 arch, the central arch is the largest arch, that present a magnificent and architecturally beautiful face of the mosque.
Take a walk inside the mosque and in the market around you will pass through many famous streets of Chandni chowk such as chawari bazaar, dariba kalan and kinari bazaar and reach to Guru Teg bahadur singh Gurudwara a Shrine dedicated to the 9th Preacher of Sikh community.
Moving ahead on the pathway heading towards the Red fort complex there are two temples of Hindu and Jain religion. The Hindu temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, it is a white double storey building, adjacent to it a red colour temple is dedicated to the Jain temple are worth visiting.
Just crossing the road the historical Red fort or Quila-e-Maula is a symbolic fort to celebrate the independence day of India on 15th August every year. It is a world heritage site by UNESCO designated in 2007 has many marble and red sandstone palaces and buildings inside it's complex.
For The entrance ticket to enter the fort one has to go to the Dehi gate of Red fort near it's parking lot and then come to the Lahori gate to enter the fort is a recent arrangement for the convenience of visitors.as earlier it was close to the Lahori gate.
There are many other attraction which could be explored in old Delhi by moving on foot or by riding a rickshaw which is easy to go in the traffic without getting worry of how to drive in narrow lanes.
