* Maharana Pratap Jayanti *
Maharana Pratap, who was a Sisodia Rajput king, was born to Maharana Udai Singh and Maharani Jaiwanta Bai in 1540 in the Kumbhalgarh fort (Mewar). He was one of the strongest warriors with a height of 7'5". He used to carry 360 kg of weight, which includes a spear weighing 80 kg, two swords weighing 208 kg and armour weighing 72 kg. He himself was above 110 kg. With an army of 22,000 he fought against Mughal army of 80,000 in the famous Haldi Ghati. Akbar never faced him in the battlefield because he knew that he can't win over him. Maharana Pratap neither surrendered nor accepted Akbar's lordship. In fact, Maharana's horse and elephant, Chetak and Ramprasad respectively, are known for immense loyalty. All his life, Maharana fought for the freedom of his motherland and his people. Maharana succumbed to injuries caused while hunting a tiger in 1597.

Katoch clan of Kangra is one of the oldest princely dynasties in the world which was established by Rajanaka Bhumi Chandra Katoch (In 4,300 BC with blessing of Lordess Ambika) to its present successor and my friend Tikaraja Ambikeshwar Dev Chand Katoch (490th descendant of Katoch dynasty). Complete family tree of the clan since 4,300 BC is preserved to support the same.
Kangra's old names were Susarmapura and Trigart pradesh in ancient times while it was called Nagarkot in medieval era.
