The Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) participated in the Border Area Development Conclave held at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.

The event saw the distinguished presence of Honorable Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, Honorable Minister of Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the Honorable Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Pema Khandu, adding immense significance to the occasion.

ATOAI President Mr. Ajeet Bajaj delivered an inspiring address on the critical need for skill development for adventure guides and tour operators. He highlighted the introduction of a comprehensive Model Law, establishment of Rescue Centres, air connectivity and the crucial role of satellite phones to bolster safety and connectivity in remote regions.

Mr. Bajaj, a seasoned adventurer who has climbed the seven summits, the highest summit in all seven continents, passionately emphasized that adventure tourism has the potential to ignite economic growth and employment, integrating remote regions into the national fabric while advocating sustainable tourism. He reinforced that India’s unparalleled natural beauty and adventure potential offer the country a distinctive edge on the global stage. A Trans Himalayan Mega trail, starting from Jammu & Kashmir through Nepal, Bhutan and ending in east Arunachal Pradesh will change the adventure tourism landscape of the Himalayan region and be a force multiplier in integrating these far flung regions into the mainstream.

ATOAI Members from all parts of India were present at the Conclave, actively supporting the promotion of Border Tourism as a vital component of the national development agenda. ATOAI's participation highlighted the potential of adventure tourism in creating sustainable livelihoods for local communities, fostering economic development and encouraging tourism to lesser-known, yet culturally and historically rich, border areas of India.

The team at ATOAI has been working closely with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, state governments and all stakeholders to position India as a world leader in safe, responsible and sustainable adventure tourism.
