Visit Tadoba (3 hour drive from Nagpur airport) this summer for a thrilling and action parked safari holiday for the entire family. Hurry and book before safari permits sell out.

Besides excellent tiger sightings, chances of spotting other mammals and birds are pretty good too in Tadoba.

An excellent morning on the cursed river with guests who’ve been there, done that. In the spotlight:
- A Great Thickknee constantly being mobbed by a very territorial River Tern.
- Close encounters with the critically endangered Red-crowned Roofed Turtle both the male and the female.
- The Bonelli’s Eagle parental duties are on point, they’re feeding their young, if you swipe you’ll see the subadult is standing tall guarding its breakfast, most likely a cattle egret.
- Indian Skimmers, Little Tern, River Lapwing, River Tern, Stilts, etc. all have successfully got bite size hatchlings. Here’s wishing they make it to adulthood and fast! Sorry, no photos of fledglings as we abide with ethical bird photography rules.
- as we were ending our safari we saw a pious elderly man from the village in the nearby ravines offering his prayers in the river, once cursed by the gods!

Introducing a new variation to the Kurmasana or the Turtle Asana for all you yogis out there 🙃. Featured is a juvenile critically endangered Red-crowned Roofed Turtle making the most of its basking time!

This morning’s river safari was different. The Chambal was inundated with the Water Lettuce (pistia stratiotis) or jalkumbhi in Hindi. No one knows how they made it all the way downstream to Dholpur, some say it was released upstream from the Kota barrage, others have other theories. Is this invasive flora harmful for the river and the fauna? If you know more about this, please comment below.

Also, in all the mayhem, I completely forgot to take the signature ‘selfie’ photo with my guests whose enthusiasm was over the top).

As the temperatures rise, head out to one of our secluded mountain getaways in Uttarakhand and Himachal. Away from the crowds and one-off tourism, stay in comfort, go on hikes, spot birds and explore rural villages. Featured here is the not so popular village of Satoli a short drive from the more mainstream Mukteshwar in Kumaon, Uttarakhand. On a clear day, you may see the snow clad peaks right from your bedroom window! For more details and a customized itinerary, contact [email protected] or send us a DM.

A few moments from our small group tour to Lucknow and Dudhwa National Park over the Easter break.

Lucknow was brilliantly lit up at night, the government has done an amazing job with showcasing the City’s built heritage.

The unique and stunningly designed Narmadeshwar temple aka the Frog Temple (you’ve got to visit this place).

Dudhwa and Kishanpur - the beautiful Terai forests and their wild inhabitants kept us on the edge during all our safaris. The highway from Lucknow is in good shape and it takes not more than 4 hours to get to the national park.

Our wonderful hosts Jai, Meenal and the entire team of , everything was carefully planned and executed, we left with such good memories of our time at this stunning luxury property.

Our guests who were patient, enthusiastic and up for everything including a literal dust bath in race to see the Rhinos. 😂

Tourism in Uttar Pradesh (beyond Agra and Varanasi) is finally changing for the better. Wildlife tourism too has a great potential and our Terai forests and the biodiversity is one of a kind, don’t let anyone say otherwise.

This is not a paid post but a genuine acknowledgment of the hidden potential of my state - Uttar Pradesh.

Another epic river safari on the cursed river. Highlights were:
- the Bonelli’s Eagle chicks are grown up and it was great to see them out of their nest but still being fed by the parental units
- female of the critically endangered Red-crowned Roofed Turtle basking alongside an Indian Softshell Turtle. In the winter the males were regularly seen however not so much any more?!
- an Egyptian Vulture busy with housekeeping duties, cleaning an old nest of unwanted decor

Our new post on whats out there beyond Goa's beach culture.

Goa beyond beaches? While some of Goa’s beaches are still uncrowded and have a great vibe, tourists visiting the former Portuguese colony are increasingly on the lookout for experiences beyond beaches (and shacks). We are not saying that you should skip Goa’s beaches altogether but if you’re i...

Our annual school trip with Child Reach a school for children with special needs was in Goa this year. But instead of just hanging out at a beach or other touristy stuff we took them to the hinterlands - Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary where the students along with the teachers and parents were exposed (and shocked) to a whole new world of nature trails, wildlife, sustainable tourism and beautiful sunsets. Can’t wait to plan their next annual trip.

This is what happens on the Chambal when the Sun finally decides to show up! After a month of gloomy cold weather, we’re finally back with our river safaris. The highlights of yesterday’s safari were:
1. Several Gharials from as big as a foot to 15 feet+
2. Indian Skimmers, their numbers are getting bigger by the week
3. The Bonelli’s Eagles are back and it looks like this year will be a successful nesting season for them
4. Three different Desert Foxes including one on the opposite side of the river from where we usually see them. This could mean their numbers are strong in the region.
5. Small Pratincole
6. A Great Cormorant with a pretty big cat fish, we didn’t wait to see it devour the big catch of the day.
7. A juvenile Monitor Lizard has permanently holed itself in the Pied Kingfishers former nest
8. Close encounters with a Gangetic River Dolphin.
8. Black bellied Tern, Common Kestrel and many more birds

Coming soon - small group tour to Dudhwa National Park with heritage/food walks in Lucknow in March. Both Dudhwa and Lucknow are absolutely worth their built and natural heritage. Dudhwa for its age old Sal forests and a ‘friendly’ tiger population in Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary and species such as the Swamp-deer, Indian rhino and rare birds such as the Bengal Florican.

Lucknow for its less talked about Awadhi culture and street food. Dates to be out soon, DM us if you’re keen to know more.

Birds in flight/fight. I guess the Pelican knew what eventually goes up has to come down. Swipe to see what the Gulls lost and the Pelican won. Other birds in action:
- Ruffs, literally ruffing it out
- Darter, literally darting its way out
- A Great White Pelican hobbling around
- Pied Avocets, there were hundreds of them
- Common (not so common) Shelducks, we were lucky to see a flock of 10. They’re really not a common bird, contrary to their name!
- Spoonbills, Pintails, Teals etc. gotta love bird names! 😬

It’s not every day that you get to see out in the open at Noon a leopard in close proximity to villages, hotels and humans. Mr. Scarface sat there sunning himself least bothered with our presence. Just earlier that day we met local hill people who said that leopards have become very brave in Uttarakhand and conflict with humans has increased significantly. Least expected to see this beautiful animal when all we hoped for were birds.
