As we return to our regular lifestyle one small step at a time, we must remind ourselves why we 'travelled' in the first place. With Routes 2.0, we are all set to release one exclusive route a month, with which we not only want to find a way to get you back to the experience of travelling but also aim to bring back on track the several businesses that were impacted by the complete shut down of the

travel industry. We have always been a pioneer in setting an example in travelling responsibly, and we are all geared up to see how we can do this with the new set of health guidelines."

THE TEAM

Ardent travelers Renuka and Kripi, consider themselves lucky to be born in a country of many ethnicities, cultures and traditions. Traveling across the country only nurtured their passion to discover more – the varied landscapes, natural history, people & their distinct life stories. It was 2008 when this mother–daughter duo got together to start Incredible Routes with the idea of creating customized itineraries for schools and colleges to showcase India, “off the beaten track”.

India’s toy trains are small trains that run on historic mountain railway lines, built by the British in the late 19th century and early 20th century to provide access to their hill settlements. Although these trains are slow and can take up to 8 hours to reach their destinations, the scenery is beautiful, making the journeys really worth while.

The most famous of the little trains, is the one linking the town of New Jalpaiguri in the plains to the lovely hill station of Darjeeling. With a 2 ft gauge, the Darjeeling Hill Railway is indeed a ‘toy train’, being the narrowest of the regular narrow gauges. The tiny century-old engine is a connoisseur’s delight. The 86-km long Darjeeling line has no tunnels, thus allowing the traveller an uninterrupted view of the breathtaking scenery of the Himalayas. The seven-and-a-half hour ride up, is a journey especially for rail buffs.

We believe travel is for all. And to truly live by that statement, we had to do something about the lack of sense of agency that women have while traveling.

We identify as a women led organisation and we aimed to inspire young women to take more space when it comes to traveling. Delhi is home to some of the best all women educational institutions. We couldn’t be grateful enough for getting an opportunity to travel with them and spark that change in the way these young women view travel within India.

and (thanks to Renuka) had travelled the corners of our country at the time when there were little to no resources, no roads and very few options for accommodation just as you left the the touristy towns. Reading actual physical maps used to be Renuka’s top favourite things to do and (quite honestly) a major requirement for them to get from anywhere to anywhere.
Something that stayed with them was, how much of our country is still unseen; especially by the Indian traveller.

The story of Incredible Routes began a little before 2009 (I m talking much much before got us like a contagious syndrome) when founder realised that the highlight of a students trip can not be the DJ party. (I mean you can literally just do that in your own city in any closed room)
She identified the need to push students to explore not just the destination but also seek new ways to experience joy and thrill; and learn from it as a byproduct.
