Pair of Leopards from Pench.

Leopard numbers are increasing in many parts of India, it proves their adaptability to the fast changing world. From living in cities to living safe and out of sight from urbanisation in lands wild and free they do it all but it’s not everyday that you see them mating 10 meters away from you, they are still as shy as they get in most places!

A breeding male Jackal had just lost a female’s attention to a bigger Golden Jackal. As soon as the female followed the other male into the bush this one started to howl.

Jackals thrive near small settlements and farmlands in India, they can be active during the day but they begin their chorus at dusk.

A month-long travel through five Tiger reserves with some wonderful folks ended last week.

No marks for guessing where this is. But go ahead and give me some wrong answers below.

The lesser yellownape has a cool hairstyle like most woodpeckers!

The Himalayas are a woodpecker’s paradise, just a short hike in the forest and you’ll add more than a few to your checklist.
Few uncommon ones coming up…We found nine species on this particular day!

Here are some moments from our recently concluded trip to the Himalayas. We lost days due to roadblocks caused by avalanches and heavy snow in the upper regions of the mountains. But we did not abort the tour thanks to our clients, who took it in their stride. And we did exceedingly well with the time we got on the field. Besides photographing four different Snow Leopards, the supporting cast of Ibex, Blue Sheep and raptors like the Lammergeier & Golden Eagle kept us enthralled.

Come join us in 2025; it will be one of the most exciting journeys you embark on.

You don't always get to choose the angle to photograph Snow Leopards, but for a cat this special, you make some exceptions.

One of the four different cats we photographed in Kibber over three days.

Which was incredible, considering we had nearly aborted the trip.

The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

Due to incessant rains, landslides and snowfall for the last two days, we have had to make changes to our plans to get to Spiti.

It's part of the deal travelling in the high Himalayas, and you have to respect it.

Hopefully, we will resume our trip to Kibber tomorrow.

Snow leopard siblings have been on their own since November, they are just above 2 years now. Usually till this age their mother is around to teach them the way of the mountains. Instead they had each other to depend on and follow for few months, it will be interesting to watch their story unfold.

We are on our way to the trans Himalayas! The first group with us comes from a tropical environment so it’s the highest, coldest place they’ve ever been too and haven’t experienced snowfall before, some things you do for the Snow Leopard!
The big cat is the priority but there is so much to see and show in the region where people have managed to coexist and successfully conserve the vulnerable feline.

For the next few weeks we are going to blend in with the local folk to understand their culture and traditions. While our mornings and evenings will be spent looking for mountain wildlife, we will also see how the fast changing world affects the mountain life and what we can do to make our travels meaningful.
