Existence of Eliyahu Hanabi
The Bene Israel Jewish community in India has a special faith and reverence for Eliyahu Hanabi, a futurist who lived before 100 BC. It has a legend at its root, about 2000 years ago the Jewish people who were scattered from their homeland of Israel accidentally landed in Konkan on the western coast of India. This is the story of that time. Eliyahu Hanabi is mentioned in the Jewish scripture Ketuvim. He spread Judaism with fearless and loyal devotion. Raised voice against injustice. This preceptor, who had divine realization, had the power to perform many miracles in life. His end in this dead world was also surprising. He was seen riding in the sky in a fiery chariot of horses, in a whirlwind. Devotees traditionally believe that they are still eternal in an invisible state. There are many devotional stories related to the belief that Eliyahu Hanabi will appear at the moment of the final salvation of the world. They strengthen our faith. The story of Eliyahu Hanabi is also famous in the Indian Bene Israel community. The incident took place in Khandala, a village near Alibaug, 80 miles from Mumbai, in Konkan. According to Eastern mythology, about 2000 years ago, on the night of the Hebrew date Tu Beshwat, a great storm arose, lightning flashed, thunder was heard, and torrential downpours began. The residents of the village were watching this outside scene in horror. Suddenly they saw a person dressed in white speeding towards the sky on a white horse. The Jewish people living in Khandala believed that they had witnessed a holy sight. The person riding the horse into the sky is none other than Eliyahu Hanabi. Their feeling was confirmed when they came out the next day as soon as the storm was over. On the night when he first performed this miracle, a deep mark of a horse's hoof was actually carved on the scythe. The people of the village were now convinced that Eliyahu Hanabi had visited their village by the sky.

All of them were convinced by the conviction of their hearts and the visible evidence that this was definitely the gift of Eliyahu Hanabi. This miracle strengthened the faith of the Bene Israel Jews in God and in Eliyahu Hanabi. The scythe on which is engraved the mark of Eliyahu Hanabi's horse's hoof. That place was considered sacred. Religious Jews began to visit there. Even today, this place is seen to be maintained.
