:: THE CIRCUIT SCRIBE ::
There has never been an invention like this in the history of electronics. Ever since the first electrical circuit, electric engineers used paper and pencil to draw up schematics for electronic circuits and then built them.
But now, with the help of the Circuit Scribe, this may all change. The circuit scribe is a project that was funded by public donation, to create a pen that can actually draw working electrical circuits. This remarkable pen uses silver ink that actually keeps conducting the electrical circuit even after the ink has dried up. So with nothing but a battery, a paper clip and light - you can already built a working lamp just using the pen.
No shaking, no smell, no waiting for ink to dry. Circuit Scribe draws smooth lines and allows you to create functioning circuits instantly. This will not only be an amazing work tool, but also an excellent way to educate children about basic electronics and electrical currents, so that they understand a bit more about how the objects around them actually work. To this day, this project has raised over thrice the needed amount for development, and is gaining popularity.

::BEAM OF INVISIBILITY::
The new study's researchers, from the Technical University of Vienna, have developed a strategy to render an object invisible โ using a beam of invisibility.
A light wave can enter and exit the object, but will never pass through the medium on a straight line, instead, it is scattered into all possible directions. The concept involves shining a beam, such as a laser, onto a material from above to pump it full of energy. This can alter the material's properties, making it transparent to other wavelengths of light coming in from the side. To achieve this, a beam with exactly the right pattern has to be projected onto the material from above.
The pattern that is projected onto an object to render it invisible must correspond perfectly to the inner irregularities of that item that usually scatters light, the researchers said. However, considerable work is still required to get this from the stage of fundamental research to practical applications.

:: MEDIPIX ::
Medipix is a family of read-out chips for particle imaging and detection developed by the Medipix Collaborations. The concept of Medipix is that it works like a camera, detecting and counting each individual particle hitting the pixels when its electronic shutter is open. This enables high-resolution, high-contrast, noise hit free images โ making it unique for imaging applications.
Hybrid pixel detector technology was initially developed to address the needs of particle tracking at the CERN LHC. To further take it into new scientific fields the Medipix2 Collaboration was started in 1999, the Medipix3 collaboration in 2005 and finally the Medipix4 collaboration in 2016.
The Medipix chips that implement on-pixel single photon counting provide many advantages for use in many fields like in X-ray, computed tomography (CT), in prototype systems for digital mammography, in CT imagers for mammography and for beta and gamma autoradiography of biological samples. Moreover, with the Medipix3 chip, the images are no longer black and white - they have colours to indicate different energy levels of the photons. The colour X-ray imaging technique produces clearer and more accurate pictures that should help doctors give their patients more accurate diagnoses.

:: E - WHISKERS ::
Scientists have created 'e-whiskers', that mimic the sensitive abilities of their natural counterparts, to help create future robotics and prosthetics.
These e-whiskers or hair-like structures can pave the way for engineering electronic human-like skin for robots and prosthetics.
These long, sticky hairs are actually the touch receptors you see on your pet send vital information about the surroundings to the brain and help the animals make sense of their environment. Researchers from University of Texas used shape-memory polymers to create artificial, electronic versions named as e-whiskers, which mimic the properties of the real thing. These structures are a significant advancement toward engineering electronic human skin.
Seals use long whiskers for very complex sensing. The fish disturbs the water, the water disturbs the whiskers of the seal, and that gives it information about where the fish is. It is the 3D structure of the whiskers that enables these advanced functionalities. Outlines of the e-whiskers are cut out from a flat sheet of shape-memory polymer, which is rigid at room temperature but becomes flexible when heated.
A flexible strain sensor is patterned on top of each whisker, which has about the same diameter as a human hair and remains attached to the sheet. Once these e-whiskers are assembled, disturbances induced changes in the resistance of the strain sensor allows for the precise tracking of each e-whisker position.
According to the researchers, robotics and prosthetics could be two of the biggest applications for the e-whiskers.

::BLOCKCHAIN::
Blockchain is a list of records, called blocks which are linked and secured using cryptography. A blockchain is a decentralized, distributed and public digital ledger that is used to record transactions across many computers so that the record cannot be altered retroactively without the alteration of all subsequent blocks and the collusion of the network. Each block typically contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp and transaction data. Thus, it is an open, distributed ledger that can record transactions between two parties efficiently and in a verifiable and permanent way.
The use of Bitcoin and the revitalization of peer-to-peer computing have been essential for the adoption of blockchain technology in a broader sense.
By storing data across its network, the blockchain eliminates the risks that come with data being held centrally. The decentralized blockchain may use ad-hoc message passing and distributed networking. Its network lacks centralized points of vulnerability that computer crackers can exploit likewise. So it will take around 16 to 17 normal computers to hack a blockchain which is not easily possible for any hacker. So this technology is safer.
Blockchains can be used in various security protocols because of its unhackable property. Currently blockchain is used as a distributed ledger for cryptocurrencies mostly known as bitcoin.

:: NO- DRIVING EXPERIENCE::
Veteran automaker General Motors have asked federal transportation authorities to allow changes in existing safety regulations so they could field an autonomous version of their Chevy Bolt, now called the Cruise AV, by 2019.
The reason for the Safety Petition? Well, if youโve seen the Cruise AV, itโs not similar to other driverless cars currently around. This one really doesnโt want you to drive it. The Cruise AV doesnโt have any steering wheel and pedals.
In light of this unusual design, GM has filed the Safety Petition to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on January 11, to allow for 16 changes to existing traffic safety rules, including having an airbag in place of where the steering should be.
Autonomous car manufacturers have been rather busy the past year with numerous tests of their driverless technologies. GM is among them, having received approval from New York state officials, as well as a public demonstration of the Cruise AV back on November 2017.
GM, which is the first company to mass produce autonomous vehicles, presumably in preparation for a 2019 test of their driverless fleet, has also been testing a ride-sharing app for their driverless cars.

:: Doherty Power Amplifier ::
A major change in amplifier design, which has in 5 years become the standard in base station amplifiers, is the Doherty architecture. The Doherty power amplifier is a form of class B amplifier that is used for RF power amplifiers where RF signals need to be amplified in a linear fashion while maintaining a good level of efficiency.
The Doherty amplifier configuration achieves this by having two amplifier sections, one that caters for the lower amplitude signal situations, and second that is additionally brought in to provide the capability to meet the higher level conditions without running into compression. When operating in a linear mode, the output device must always be in conduction, with the output voltage rising and falling between the two limits.
Invented by W.H. Doherty of Bell Labs in 1936, this architecture delivers very high power-added efficiency with input signals of high PARs. In fact, when properly designed, a Doherty amplifier can produce increases in efficiency of 11% to 14%. The major advantages of the Doherty amplifier is that its technology is not as complicated as envelope tracking which also improves RF amplifier efficiency. Its main application is as Multiband Doherty Amplifiers for Wireless. In novel 4G/5G cellular communication systems, it is required that the radio transmitter in general and power amplifier as its key part in particular operates with high efficiency over wide frequency ranges to provide multiband and multistandard operation.
