The Gurdaspur city situated on Amritsar – Pathankot National Highway Road, 36 Kms from Pathankot and 32 kms from Batala is being the district headquarter. The Indo-Pak Border is at a distance of 10 Kms from Gurdaspur . The River Beas falls one side and Raavi falls on the other side of Gurdaspur. The famous Ranjit Sagar Dam falls in Gurdaspur district. The Gurdaspur city was named after the name of

Mahant Guridas. The Emperor Akbar was crowned at Kalanaur, which is 26 Kms from Gurdaspur city and also Behrampur town is situated at a distance of 10 Kms, where Mukbara of Bairam Khan is situated. Earlier, Dinanagar town was the capital of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, which is only 12 Kms from Gurdaspur city. The famous woollen mill is situated at Dhariwal which is only 12 kms from Gurdaspur city. The Gurdaspur Improvement Trust, Gurdaspur was established by the Government of Punjab in the year of 19l4 under the Punjab Town Improvement Act, 1922.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕਾਹਨੂੰਵਾਨ ਛੰਭ ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਕੂੜਾ ਸਾਂਭਣ ਨੂੰ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਛੋਟੇ #ਘੱਲੂਘਾਰੇ_ਦੀ_ਛੰਭ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਕੂੜੇ ਦਾ ਡੰਪ ਦਿਸੇਗਾ।
ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਡੰਪ ਗਰਾਊਂਡ ਬਣਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀਵਰ , ਗੰਦ ਮੂਤ ਅਤੇ ਕੂੜਾ ਸਾਂਭਣ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ ਪਿੰਡ ਹੀ ਬਚੇ ਹਨ।
ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫੈਕਟਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੀਵਰੇਜਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੰਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਸੁੱਟਣਾ ਵੀ ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਅਰਬਨ ਆਬਾਦੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਕ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸਲੱਮ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਣਗੇ !
ਦੂਸਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ #ਸਿੱਖ ਅੱਜ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝ ਸਕੇ ਕੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਬਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਛੰਭਾ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਛੰਭ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿੰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਸ ਛੰਭ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ 12 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਲਹੂ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ !
