A tiger super mom’s job is far from easy. As Riddhi roams her expansive territory with vigilant grace, she remains ever-watchful for the lurking danger of crocodiles. Her keen eyes scan the lush surroundings, her ears attuned to the slightest disturbance, ensuring her cubs are safe from these formidable predators. Balancing the demands of hunting, defending her domain, and nurturing her young, Riddhi’s vigilance and strength are the linchpins of her family’s survival.

When photographing a majestic creature like a tiger, it’s easy to get caught up in the allure of a direct gaze or a dynamic interaction. After all, the dramatic intensity of a tiger’s eye contact or the grandeur of a frontal pose can be captivating. However, focusing exclusively on these elements can sometimes overlook the power of a more subtle approach to framing.

Consider this image for example. This simple yet evocative framing shifts the narrative from a straightforward depiction to a more complex and intriguing story. It invites the viewer to engage their imagination, creating a sense of mystery and connection with the tiger's natural habitat. This kind of composition highlights the essence of the tiger’s environment and its role within it. This approach can convey themes of elusiveness and the delicate balance between the animal and its surroundings, offering a deeper understanding of its life and behaviour.

The true artistry in such an image lies in its ability to evoke curiosity and appreciation through simplicity. It’s not just about capturing the tiger itself, but about framing it in a way that enhances the overall narrative. This nuanced vision turns an ordinary scene into a masterpiece by focusing on the relationship between the subject and its environment, rather than relying solely on direct interaction or overt expressions.
In essence, the mastery of photography often involves understanding that sometimes the most powerful images are those that invite the viewer to look beyond the obvious and engage with the subtler, more profound aspects of the scene.

After two decades of photographing in Ranthambhore, I was incredibly fortunate to capture the iconic “Tiger in the Gate” frame not just once, but an astounding four times this season—one of which was an exclusive and rare, once-in-a-lifetime moment! I had the privilege of photographing Riddhi and her cubs, the entire family, as they gracefully walked through and even lounged beneath the gate. This frame is a highlight from an exceptional collection brimming with thousands of extraordinary images.

You may look at other beautiful Queens in your life doing their Queenly work with calm, confident efficiency and think you could never be like them…
… And you won’t.
Because the truth is, no one will rule your realm like you. Your crown will not be identical to the crown of other Queens. There has never been another Queen like you before and there never will be. You are uniquely qualified by the mountains you have climbed, caves you have explored, and the treasures you have discovered. But take heed, dear one, you can confidently acknowledge your strengths, talents, and gifts and be humble. You get to choose how you want to rule your realms.

Witnessing the electrifying moment when Riddhi’s piercing gaze locked with mine across the serene Rajbagh lake, amidst the frenetic crowd in Rajbagh desperately chasing close-ups, was an experience of unparalleled intensity. While many pursued intimate portraits, I revere the sweeping wide-angle shot that magnificently frames this iconic creature within its majestic realm. Despite experimenting with close-ups this season, nothing rivals the sheer splendor of capturing both the grandeur of the landscape and the regal presence of its inhabitant in a single, breathtaking panorama.

THE GREAT HEIST

So as the two thieves started to enter the palace with an intention to rob it, one of the thieves developed cold feet...

Tiger 1: "Dude, you’re about to freeze up now? We’ve already breached the palace perimeter!"

Tiger 2: "I’m not freezing up, I’m just checking the weather report—if you consider 'terrifyingly cold' a report."

Tiger 1: "Well, unless you want to join the ‘chicken out’ club, you better get moving. We’re on the brink of greatness here!"

Tiger 2: "Greatness or a grand escape plan? Because right now, the only thing I'm planning is a strategic retreat."

Tiger 1: "Come on, this is the great heist, not a walk in the park! We can’t let a little chill stop us."

Tiger 2: "Speak for yourself—I’m debating if my next step should be towards the treasure or a nice warm cup of courage."

Tiger 1: "Get your paws in gear, or this heist is going to turn into a comedy show!"

Tiger 2: "Funny you should say that. I think I’m about to deliver the punchline... by running away!"
