Mysore Dussehra celebration that attracts tourists from around the world is perhaps India's most extravagantly celebrated festival.

The Mysore Dasara festivities kick off with Navratri (which goes on for nine nights) and reach a grand finale on Vijayadashmi (the 10th day). The final day of the Dussehra celebration includes a procession comprising horses, dancers, displays of swordsmanship, and an elephant carrying the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari (a form of Shakti) in a temple-like structure reportedly made of 750 kg gold.

Although the festival has different names across India, the essence of the festival remains the same for everyone, which is the victory of Dharma (Good) over Adharma (Evil).

Let’s celebrate the victory of good over evil.

The festival of Onam is celebrated throughout the state of Kerala (South of India). The State is marked by excitement and enjoyment among all during the festival!

Onam falls during the Malayali month of Chingam (Aug - Sep) and marks the homecoming of legendary King Mahabali. It lasts for ten days and brings out the best of Kerala culture and tradition. Intricately decorated Pookalam, ambrosial Onasadya, breathtaking Snake Boat Race and exotic Kaikottikali dance are some of the most remarkable highlights of this festival.

Another reason to celebrate Onam is that it is the time of the year when a good harvest has been gathered all over Kerala, a sign of plenitude and happiness.

Warm wishes to everyone from Eastbound Discoveries team on the occasion of Onam.

H O L I is an amazing and a unique festival of colours that is celebrated in different parts of India with unbridled enthusiasm, fun and gaiety. Traditionally it signifies the triumph of good over evil and it also marks the beginning of spring. The last two years had been tough for all of us and the forced social distancing had surely taken some shine off from this wonderful festival but as the world is slowly recovering from the curse of this dreaded pandemic, may this Holi dispel darkness and add bright colors to our lives.

May the spirit of Holi bring you happiness. The warmth of Holi brings you joy, and the joy of Holi brings you hope.

We wish you a very HAPPY HOLI !

14/03/2022

Namaste to all incredible travelers across the globe. The time has come when India is ready to welcome you back!!

The last two years have been very very tough for us in the tourism sector. It seemed like a never-ending dark tunnel to us, and we are sure, to you too. But it looks like, we finally starting to see a faint light in the tunnel.

With hope and wish that you and your friends and family have been safe, we share the good news of resumption of Scheduled International flights to India from 27th March. Although international flights to India had already been operating under the bubble arrangements with many countries since July’20; the restrictive capacity, higher airfares and a fear of Covid didn’t let the tourism go in full bloom. But now, as much of the adult population in India has already been vaccinated and with the number of active cases being dropped marginally low to around 0.003% of the population, the future of tourism looks bright. We are expecting that the government will also make the much awaited announcement about the e-Visas very soon and we will keep you updated on the same.

Tourists are back.

The last big group that we had handled at Eastbound Discoveries was in Goa in March 2020 just before Covid changed the state of the travel industry and the tourists, wanderers and explorers were forced to sit quietly in their homes. As the dark clouds of Covid are slowly lifting and the travel restrictions are being either eased or removed everywhere, we have our first group land in Nepal this week. Another one comes next week. FITs are already travelling in Srilanka and Maldives. And hopefully the scheduled flights will soon be resumed in India, and then there will possibly be a Travel Boom in India. Fingers crossed !

Wishing the very best to all the inbound companies in India!

To the east of the Indian mainland, in the blues of the Bay of Bengal, floats the splendid group of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 1,367 km from Chennai and 1,304 km from Kolkata, what were once graveyards of martyrs have now transformed into one of most exotic destination to visit in 2022.

Featuring palm-fringed beaches with spotless stretches of white sands, an uninterrupted presence of peace, and crystal clear turquoise waters all around - Andaman is a true example of what you call 'Tropical Paradise'.

This piece of heaven in Asia is serene and untouched – a perfect destination for a refreshing holiday that offers a refuge from tiresome responsibilities of the urban world.

Zanskar, the hidden gem of Ladakh

Sitting comfortably at a height of 13154 ft, Zanskar Valley is a semi-arid region that is nestled in the lap of the northern flank of Great Himalayas. Zanskar’s pristine water bodies, snow-capped mountains surrounding the region, and scenic landscape work as a major draw for tourists. Located around 105 km away from Leh. Centuries-old monasteries dot this place, making it one of the favoured places for monastery lovers. During winters, temperature can go down to -30 degree celsius; thus, travellers need to plan their visit to Zanskar during June to September, as the valley will remain heavily covered in snow.
