F.R.I (Forest Research Institute)

It is a Natural Resource Service training institute of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and is an institution in the field of forestry research in India for Indian Forest Service cadres and all State Forest Service cadres.

It is located at Dehradun in Uttarakhand, and is among the oldest institutions of its kind.
We at had a chance to visit this estabilishment. Here the children had the privilege of touring the institute's museum & campus where they witnessed & learned about the wide collection of medicinal plants & its purpose, different types of seed, various types of forests, various types of wood cutting techniques, types of insects, decay from various insects, uses of various types of wood etc.

Workshop at Dastkar, Ranthambore

Dastkar is a private not-for-profit NGO established in 1981, with the sole focus to develop a rural income-generation programme in the villages around the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, with a special focus on women.

The Dastkar Ranthambore Project became a fine example of Dastkar’s work on reviving crafts and establishing craftgroups with unique identities. 
We conduct block printing workshops, demonstrate about the weaving methods & design techniques and ofcourse indulge in some shopping.
