On WORLD TOURISM DAY, TOAA unites for the cause "TOURISM and PEACE".

A team of TOAA members will be present as Panalist for discussion on WTD Theme.

Manas National Park, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, is located in the Himalayan foothills and is famed for being a habitat to Tigers and Golden Leaf Monkeys. The Manas river flows through the National Park which acts an international border diving India and Bhutan. The Park is Project Tiger, Rhino & Elephant Reserve. Also visit Manas for its rare and endangered endemic wildlife such as the Assam Roofed Turtle, Hispid Hare, Golden Langur and Pygmy Hog. Not to forget, Manas is a birding paradise with more than 450 species of birds like Giant Hornbills, Pheasants, Jungle Fowl, Scarlet Minivet, Partridge, Florican and variety of water birds seen here.

On WORLD TOURISM DAY, TOAA unites for the cause "TOURISM and PEACE".

We will celebrate the day in SUALKUCHI, the Silk village of Assam and highlight the culture and heritage of the region.

The Assam weaving industry produces three unique varieties of silks, Muga (Golden Silk) , the warm Eri (Endi) and Pat (White Silk). Muga - the golden silk of Assam, is not produced anywhere else in the world. The exquisite motifs in the 'mekhela-chadors' depict the Assamese culture & tradition and the flora & fauna of the State which are woven in a variety of colours.

To establish a strategic partnership with Royal Global University (RGU) an MOU to exchange knowledge and take up capacity building of the students pursuing tourism studies was signed between TOAA and RGU today at the University Campus.

We see a fantastic window of opportunities through this MOU and in line with the theme "Academia Industry Convergence - Bridging the Gap" which we highlighted in the TOAA Annual Convention, 2023 at Mayfair Resort. In the picture our President, Shri Mukul Medhi is seen exchanging the MOU document with Dr S P Singh, VC in the presence of the Registrar, RGU and members of the TOAA delegation.

TOAA members were invited for an immersive tea experience at the beautiful Amchong Tea Estate.

Tea Tourism has immense pottential to boost the Tourism industry and with this Tea Garden, located close to Guwahati, opening it's doors to tourists is a welcome initiative. Plucking tea leaves in the tea estate with factory visit and the sip of the famous Assam Tea can be experienced in a day tour.

Tour Operator of Assam will soon share more details to include this Tea Tour in your itineraries

TOAA delegation led by President Shri Mukul Medhi, felicitated Director of Tourism Shri Ranuj Kumar Borkotoky at his office at the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Assam.

The discussion covered various topics including incentive schemes, the allocation of a corpus fund for TOAA, schemes to benefit women-led tourism businesses, and updating the Assam Tourism. Additionally, the delegation requested the Director to sign an MOU with prominent airlines of India to secure periodic benefits for local tour operators.

To expand network, explore new ideas and develop co-operation possibilities, Tour Operators Association of Assam (TOAA) organised their annual convention along with its 14th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) which was a full day program and was hosted by Mystique Mayong Eco Resort at Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Mayong on 14th June, 2024.
The AGM commenced in the morning with the internal business session wherein some vital issues concerning the association were discussed. An important agenda of the AGM in the afternoon session was the formation of a new executive committee for the term 2024-27 to infuse new ideas and have better implications of the efforts. After much deliberation the new executive was formed under the stewardship of Shri Mukul Medhi as President and Shri Kundal Roy as the Hony. Secretary. Members congratulated the new committee as they are certain the new committee will lead the association to even greater heights.
