The year 2020 began with environmental crisis revealing itself in a disturbing manner. Wildfires ravaged tropical rainforests as if they were arid savannah and the Australian bushfires. Cyclones and floods washed away trees and buildings. Now, locust attacks across Africa and India and the coronavirus pandemic — all these calamities act as a reminder that human health is linked to the planet's health.
We need to now fundamentally rethink our relationship with the living world, with natural ecosystems and their biodiversity. Happy World Environment Day 2020.

We are very saddened by the grievous news of Gaurav A Jani, a well-known name in the world of motorcycling, passed away on 24th May 2020.
He was the man behind ‘Ride of My Life’, a motorcycle touring company based in India since 2001.
Gaurav was a national award winning filmmaker who gave up making commercial films a long time ago to follow his passion. From the past 11 years he had been travelling solo across India and making documentary films about remote places and indigenous people. Two of his films, Riding Solo to the Top of the World and One Crazy Ride have won awards at film festivals worldwide. His third film, Motorcycle Chang Pa is about a one year journey to the Changthang plateau in Ladakh. Gaurav was the founder member of 60kph Motorcycle Travel Club, India. He was also an advisor at The Ted Simon Foundation UK (which encourages and assists travellers to make an extra effort to mold their observations and insights into something of value for the rest of the world) and an instructor at Overland Expo USA (the world's largest event for do-it-yourself adventure enthusiasts).
Besides the tours of his company, he always inspired and encouraged more people to take up motorcycle travel. We can say he is one of the influencer for motorcycle tour in Ladakh and Tawang.
Team PTB would like to share our heartfelt condolences to his near and dear ones, may his soul rest in peace.

PTB team has successfully assisted a car rally from Indo-Myanmar border to Mao Gate under the theme of 'Drive Across Asia'. This friendly car rally which is teamed by 37 people from Malaysia and Thailand in 17 SUV cars and started their journey from Thailand. The next destination is Nagaland and they will be attending the Hornbill Festival. We do hope that you will explore the versatile culture of our country.

The overland trip of Santana Riderz Mc has successfully completed. The ride was started from 5th October 2019 from Guwahati, while some of the riders came by road through Manipur crossing Indo-Myanmar border. They have visited 5 Takhts in India for Cancer Charity Ride 2019. And they will be heading towards Pakistan to visit 2 Takhts.

Team Pack The Bag and Lets Ryde delivered the bikes to our guest, Santana Riderz at Guwahati and also we had a great short test ride today. Altogether there are 20 bikers for this journey. We hope Santana Riders will have smooth and happy journey ahead.

The first commandment for every good explorer is that an expedition has two points: the point of departure and the point of arrival.- The motorcycle diaries.

At the point of arrival in India, Pack The Bag team were pleased to welcome Santana Riders Mc at Indo-Myanmar border. It is one of the Malaysian oldest motorcycle group and it was formed by a group of young Sikh boys in 1979. The motorbike convoy consists of 17 riders who will be journeying across Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, India and Pakistan for almost 40 days and 16,000km. And their mission is promote awareness to the public on ‘giving’ and help to raise funds for National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM).

Some of the riders from the team will be landing at Guwahati to start their ride and some will start their journey in Delhi. PackTheBag team will be guiding them from their entry into the Indian border till the last destination in India in association with LetsRyde. We hope that we provide our best service and our riders will have a great ride.

Ukhrul-A land of beautiful mountains in the state of Manipur-India, interspersed by numerous tribal inhabitants echoing with the beats of tribal cultures and rich wild life. This virgin land is the home for Tangkhul Naga and located at the altitude of 1660 m above sea level.

Yai Thaba - A traditional way of fishing.
There is an annual fishing festival held in the month of May at Yangkhulen Sangkhumai and Willong Khunou.
Yangkhullen is a small village located 57 km and Willong Khullen 38 km from the town of Maram of Senapati district, Manipur. The way of catching fish is perform by beating a combination of Yai vines and powder grounded from the bark of the tree called Ushoi. When this tree trunks beat the mixture upon the stones and mixed with river water, a foam is produce and subsequently flow down along with the water. The effect of this solution makes the fish paralyzed and float near the surface, easy to be caught.
These traditions have been practising by the people for centuries. The whole village is like a large family where the work is shared at a community level. In addition to the fishing festival, the region offers you some breathtaking view of the valley and glimpse into the history of this place. Here, you will get to see the primitive social and economic life of the people, which prevails even in this day and age.
The people of this village have preserved the natural beauty around the village, which makes it a pleasurable tour for anyone.

The Irrawaddy Bridge or Ayeyarwady Bridge or Yadanabon is a bridge in Mandalay, Myanmar. This four lane motorway with two pedestrian bridge crosses the Irrawaddy River, to the southwest of Mandalay and Amarapura and just to the north of the old Ava Bridge, and is also known as the New Ava Bridge!

U Bein Bridge
A teak wood footbridge stretching across Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura in Myanmar.
Built in the year 1850 at a slight curve, supported by over a thousand wooden pillars that were hammered into the bottom of the shallow lake is believed to be one of the oldest and longest wooden footbridge in the world and is one among the most photographed sites in Myanmar.
A great time to visit the bridge is just after sunrise when hundreds of villagers and monks commute back and forth across it. The light is often best around an hour before sunset, but by then there will be a lot of tourists and trinket sellers.

Bagan in central Burma is one of the world’s greatest archeological sites, a sight to rival Machu Picchu or Angkor Wat but for the time being at least without the visitors. The setting is sublime a verdant 26 square-mile plain, part-covered in stands of palm and tamarind caught in a bend of the lazy-flowing Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) river and framed by the hazy silver-grey of distant mountains. Rising from the plain’s canopy of green are temples, dozens of them, hundreds of them, beautiful, other-worldly silhouettes that were built by the kings of Bagan between 1057 and 1287, when their kingdom was swept away by earthquakes and Kublai Khan and his invading Mongols. Some 2,230 of an original 4,450 temples survive a legacy of the Buddhist belief that to build a temple was to earn merit.Most are superbly preserved or have been restored by Unesco, among others, and many contain frescoes and carvings and statues of Buddha, big and small.
For your information Bagan is also one of the beautiful destination for hot air balloon in Southeast Asia and it is available mostly in the morning time.

Mandalay
A city and former royal capital in northern Myanmar on the Irrawaddy River. In its center is the restored Mandalay Palace from the Konbaung Dynasty, surrounded by a moat. Mandalay Hill provides views of the city from its summit, which is reached by covered stairway. At its foot, the Kuthodaw Pagoda houses hundreds of Buddhist-scripture-inscribed marble slabs.
