Ajanta caves, cut into the face of a mountain, form a horseshoe shape around the Wangorah River. They are an example of one of Indian’s unique artistic traditions known as rock-cut temples. Ajanta consists of thirty caves, each dedicated to the life of the Buddha.
These caves were rediscovered in 1819 after being hidden from eyes of world for many centuries in thick jungle cover.

The Paintings of Ajanta or अजिंठा

Mix of spirituality with beauty can be seen at Ajanta caves.
Using mineral pigments, the ancient artists, confident and capable in their craft in an era some 2000 years ago painted jewel-like murals in Ajanta to narrate stories of Buddha’s life and his past lives based on Jataka tales.
There has been much speculation on how the artists managed to achieve exorbitant levels of detail in the absence of any significant light inside the caves.

The first set of caves were carved out in 2nd century BC and 1st century AD, later at the time of Vakataka dynasty the work started again . Few caves are Chaitya and rest are Viharas .

Yesterday had a chance to visit long awaited in my travel bucket list- Ellora caves in Maharashtra.
How our ancient socities built such massive structure in 8th centuary with the help of only chisel and hammer is a question to modern technologies.
The caves were carved out of vertical basalt cliff of Sahyadri hills. The cave no 16 Kailasa temple is 300 ft long and 175 ft wide. It is a World heritage site and one of unmatched masterpiece of India architecture .

Tulip Blossoms in Srinagar...
Spread across the 30 hectares,this Tulip garden is Asia's larget.
With 48 variries of 1.5 million tulips blooming it becomes treat for eyes. Tulips usually blooms at the end of March which is perfect season for these flowers to bloom.

Symbol of age old culture and opulance ,Jai Vilas Palace is situated at Gwalior,Madhya Pradesh.
It was built by Maharaja of Gwalior Jivaji Rao Scindhia in 1874. Covering a floor area of 75 acres the Jai vilas Palace has an intricately designed Darbar hall ,which houses some of the most colossal chandelier in the world ,gift furnishings and large plush carpet.
The palace has 400 well- furnished rooms, out of which 40 rooms form the famous Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum.
