,
Moti Doongri is a small hill around which the city of Jaipur flourishes. Moti Doongri means pearl hill, because the hill indeed resembles a pearl drop. Visitors go there to pay homage at the famous Ganesh temple, the most auspicious and important religious temple in Jaipur. The Ganesh temple was built by Seth Jai Ram Paliwal, sometime in the early 18th century. A legend goes, the King of Mewar was heading back to his palace after a long journey and was carting a massive Ganesh idol on a bullock cart. The king had decided that he would build a temple for the idol of Lord Ganesh wherever the bullock cart stopped. Apparently the cart stopped at the foot of the Moti Doongri, which is where the temple is situated today. The hill also has an exotic palace perched right on top. A replica of a Scottish castle, it was once the royal home of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh. It continues to belong to the royal family. The mere view of this castle is extremely exotic.

, Considered to be one of the oldest forts in India, the Bhatner Fort or Hanumangarh Fort is located on the banks of the river Ghaggar. The importance of the fort can be gauged from the fact that Empror Akbar mentioned it in Ain-e-Akbari. The fort was built around 1700 years ago by Bhupat, the son of Jaisalmer’s King Bhatti and has withstood the ravages of time and war extremely well. Many a fearsome ruler including Timur and Prithviraj Chauhan tried to capture the fort, but such was its strength that for centuries no one succeeded at getting their hands on it. Finally, in the year 1805, Raja Surat Singh of Bikaner vanquished the Bhattis and captured the fort. The fort is heavily fortified and has many stunning gates, it also houses temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman.

The Albert Hall was completed in 1887 by the architect Samuel Swinton Jacob,Director of Jaipur PWD. its Indo-Saracenic architecture and stone ornamentation, became a source of reference for varied classical Indian styles of design from Mughal to Rajput. Even the corridors were decorated with murals in a variety of styles including the Ramayan, reproducing paintings from illustrations in the Persian Razmnama prepared for Emperor Akbar. European, Egyptian, Chinese, Greek and Babylonian civilizations were portrayed in the other murals to enable the people of the region to compare and contrast them with their own and develop their knowledge of history and art.
The museum displays a wide range of metal objects, wood crafts, carpets, stone and metal sculptures, arms and weapons, natural stones and ivory goods. It also houses a large collection of miniatures from Bundi, Kota, Kishangarh, Udaipur and Jaipur schools of art.

The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is considered to be the largest of the five astronomical observatories built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. The Universe and the Cosmos have always been of interest to man, and it was this interest that compelled the Maharaja to build an astronomical observatory. The term ‘Jantar Mantar’ is derived from the Sanskrit terms ‘Yantra’ and ‘Mantra’ meaning ‘instruments’ and ‘formula’ respectively. The term ‘Yantra’ was replaced with ‘Jantar’ which means ‘magical’. The Jantar Mantar houses various architectural and astrological instruments that have caught the interests of astronomers, historians and architects around the world.

30/12/2022

or as it is locally known is surrounded by a dry ditch on its northern side and is protected by 35 ft high masonry rampart wall. The fort is flanked by the main road on the southern side and a smaller approach road on its eastern side.
The Qila which was originally built during the Muslim rule has witnessed changing architectural styles through different periods of time. The entire fort complex spreads across an area of 7,535sq.m and is located atop a small rising hill in the midst of Poonch town. Within its quadrilateral ramparts lie series of rooms that were being used as government offices prior to the 2005 earthquake. The confines of the fort house several buildings oriented around open courtyards offering a mix of Mughal, Dogra and Colonial architectural styles. Much of the historic fabric of the fort complex has been lost during past reconstruction and repair practises and the destruction caused by the earthquake. In addition to the older structures in the fort, there are a number of newly constructed office buildings that further spoil the historic character of the complex. Despite the apathy facing the fort and the buildings therein, it still retains a historic character reminiscent of its bygone glory. At present, the complex is ventured very little and has been left totally unattended, as most of the offices have been shifted after the fort was declared unsafe in 2005. Owing to this, the vegetation over the past two years has grown dense and inhospitable. There are six major buildings within the fort of which the Durbar Hall could be considered as one of the most significant and fairly well preserved. The main fa ade of the Durbar hall stands impressively above the main road that leads to the Qilla and is adorned by decorative features like semi-circular arched openings, pediments, large arcaded colonnades, series of windows, niches, corbelled mouldings etc.
