A strategically important road, which connects Leh to the Pangong Lake, was inaugurated here on Tuesday by Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, who said that the stretch passing through the Kela Pass at 18,600 feet will be world’s highest motorable way.

The road, constructed by the 58 Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army, will reduce 41-km of travel from Leh (Zingral to Tangtse) to the picturesque Pangong Lake crossing the Kela Pass, the Lok Sabha member said.

Travelers who love the road need to add this incredible bridge of their bucket list.

At a dizzying altitude of 13,596 ft, Chicham Bridge is declared as the highest bridge of Asia.

The incredible feat of constructing this bridge took a mind boggling 14 years, as before the construction, the locals used a dangerous ropeway to travel.

The Chicham Bridge connects Kibber with Chicham village and reduces the journey between Kibber to Losar by 40 kms. This new suspension stiffened steel truss bridge coming up over the 1000 feet gorge & connecting Kibber with Chicham village over Samba Lamba Nallah.

In order to break the Coronavirus chain in the state, the government of Goa on Wednesday announced strict lockdown from 7 pm of April 29 (Thursday) to the morning of May 3 (Monday).

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant clarified that the essential services and industries will not be shut down during the lockdown.

“Lockdown would be imposed from Thursday evening 7 pm till Monday morning in the coastal state to break the chain of COVID-19 infection. Goa had been reporting more than 2,000 new infections on a daily basis this week,” Sawant said during the address
