⏱️Situated at a distance of 2.5 hours from Siliguri lies the beautiful village of Samthar. Witness the magnificent Kanchenjunga in it's full glory from Samthar. 🗻
✔️Samthar is a small village situated in Kalimpong district. Samthar is surrounded by some beautiful mountains having some beautiful villages. So what's so special about Samthar. The hills of North Bengal offers magnificent view of Kanchenjunga and Samthar is no exception.
✔️So where is Samthar located?
Samthar is located in southern part of Kalimpong district.
✔️How to reach Samthar?
Samthar is easily approachable from Siliguri. Take NH10 going towards Kalimpong. After crossing Coronation bridge comes a dam over Teesta and the name of the place is Kalijhora.
✔️1st option is to go over the dam but permission is required as there is CISF checkpoint. That won't be an issue if you are having booking in our homestay, we will get the clearance. From Kalijhora it's 15-16 kms. After crossing the dam it's steep climb with some hair pin bends. Soon you can see the Teesta reservoir on one hand and Coronation bridge, Sevok rail pool, Teesta river, Dooars plain the other side. After 7 kms the first village Panbu will come and suddenly Kanchenjunga will be visible. Take the straight road and you will come to Panbu view point. Panbu view point is an upcoming hangout place. Kanchenjunga, Coronation bridge, Sevoke rail pool, Teesta and Dooars plain are visible from the view point. The best time would be to visit at the time of sunset. After that comes Yang Makum and few moments later Samthar.
✔️2nd option would be to continue the journey towards Kalimpong without going over Kalijhora dam. Rambi bazaar will come and another dam over Teesta dam will come. There will be a white gate which will take you towards the dam. Permission is not required in order to cross this dam. While crossing the dam you can see the confluence of Teesta and Relli river. Just after crossing the dam there is a famous picnic spot Rellikhola. There is a hanging bridge over Rellikhola where guests can enjoy few moments. Take the road and you will come Suruk village. After sometime Samthar will come.
🏡About the homestay
Ammihud homestay Samthar is located around 2 kms from Samthar chowk. From Samthar bargach take the road towards Samthar hospital and after that take the opposite road which will lead you to the homestay.
✔️There are 3 floors in the homestay with 3 rooms each and having 1 common drawing room in each floor. These rooms consists of teak wood designer king size bed. 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids can be easily accommodated. 2 rooms in each floor are Kanchenjunga facing with private balconies and 1 room is hill facing. Apart from that there is another single room on the terrace having 5 single beds.
All the rooms are having attached bathroom with geyser facilities.
The dining hall is in the basement.
There is a lawn in front of the homestay where guests can spend quality timing overlooking Kanchenjunga.
✔️Breakfast,lunch, dinner, evening tea and snacks are provided at the homestay.
Bonfire and barbeque can be arranged at extra charge.
Camping facilities are also available at the homestay. A hangout place has been made for the guests of homestay where they can view Kanchenjunga, Samthar khola and Suruk valley with mesmerizing sound of peacock from nearby jungles.

☑️Rai dara, Sinji, Charkhole, Jhandi dara sunrise point, Pabong can be visited as local sightseeing.
☑️Nokdara and Dabling dara can be visited as long distance sightseeing.
☑️Kalimpong city and popular spots like Delo, Durpin can also be visited from our homestay as day trip.
☑️Lava, Lolegaon, Sittong, Mungpoo are also some other options from our homestay.
☑️Trekking options are also available wherein you can trek down to Samthar khola and enjoy the day over there and come back in evening.
