Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology & Science, Karimnagar was established in August 1997 as a self-financing Engineering College by Shalini Vidya Samstha, Karimnagar under the able Chairmanship of Sri. Sagar Rao Garu who has vast experience in successfully running the Jyothishmathi Group of Institutions in Karimnagar. The Institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AI
CTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. During the last 14 years, this Engineering College has made rapid progress and has developed into one of the very large and foremost Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh State, with an annual intake capacity of 870 students in the following programmes : Four B.Tech. programmes - Computer Science & Engineering(CSE) with an intake of 120, Information Technology(IT) with an intake of 120, Electronics & Communication Engineering(ECE) with an intake of 120, Electrical & Electronics Engineering(EEE) with an intake of 120 students, Seven Post-Graduate Programmes – MCA course with an intake of 60, MBA course with an intake of 60, M.Tech. (Software Engineering) course with an intake of 18 M.Tech (Computer Networks and Information Secuirity) course with an intake of 18, M.Tech(Embedded System Design) course with an intake of 18, and M.Tech. (VLSI Design) course with an intake of 18 students. Programmes in CSE, ECE and EEE were started in 1997, later in 1999 B.Tech. Master Programmes - MCA and MBA were started in 2006, M.Tech. (CSE) was introduced in the year 2008 and M.Tech.(SE) & M.Tech.(VLSI Design) courses were introduced in the academic year 2009, M.Tech(Computer Networks and Information Secuirity), M.Tech(Embedded System Design) are introduced in the current academic year 2010, M.Tech (Computer Science)& M.Tech (Digital Systems and Computer Electronics) are introduced in the current academic year 2011 with an intake of 18 in each courses. In the academic year 2009-10 second shift polytechnic Diploma programmes Computer Engineering(CME) with an intake of 120, Electronics & Communication Engineering(ECE) with an intake of 60 and Electrical & Electronics Engineering(EEE) with an intake of 60 were started in the college campus. The College has a built-up area of nearly 23,479 sq.M. And is situated in a serene and picturesque location in an area of 25 acres, overlooking the water body of Lower Manair Dam near Karimnagar town. The College is easily accessible by road and is about 8 KMs. from Karimnagar Bus-station, by the side of Karimnagar-Hyderabad High-way. The College Campus is located in the midst of vast expanse of greenery. The college has well-equipped Laboratories and the Library as per the A.I.C.T.E. standards. All the Departments have full complement of well-qualified and experienced faculty members. Many of our faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D. in different disciplines by registering as external research scholars at JNTU, Hyderabad, NIT Warangal and Kakatiya University, Warangal. Three of our B. students had secured the first places in the J.N.T. University and won the University Gold Medals in EEE and EIE branches in 2001, 2003 and 2005, competing with students from nearly 250 affiliated Engineering Colleges of J.N.T. University. In the recent out-going batch (2008-09), the pass percentages are CSE – 96.43%, ECE – 92.13%, EEE – 93.22%, IT – 91.67%, MCA- 82.14%, MBA – 98.28%. The large numbers of our students have been able to secure admissions in M.S. programmes abroad and M.Tech. Programmes in reputed institutes in India. The majority of our out-going students have already secured campus placement, Campus Connect (Infosys) jobs. Our college is selected as one of the Jawaharlal Knowledge Centres(JKCs) in the A.P. state, by the Institute of Electronic Governance, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, since the inception of this programme and has been accorded with JKC STAR institution status. Infosys has recognized this college as “Advanced Partner College” under the CampusConnect Program. More than 1,500 students have been trained under the JKC and Infosys CampusConnect - Soft Skills and Foundation programmes.
