As the years go by, the trees in our food forest continue to grow larger, making land preparation between them increasingly challenging. The mini tractor has emerged as a solution, saving us both time and effort.

The 10-day agricultural internship for Mallaikovilloor Government Higher Secondary School has finally concluded.
We are truly grateful for the dedication and collaboration shown by the students and staff, which made this experience unforgettable for us.
They were commuting 70 kilometers each day, both to and from, by organizing their own transportation and sharing the costs to visit our farm daily.
In summary, the students assisted us in establishing a heirloom vegetable garden around our seed bank from the ground up, as well as in cleaning and making the seed bank, nursery, and other essential modules of our farm operational. They gained insights into value addition, packaging, and labeling, along with experience in running a business through e-commerce.
We extend our heartfelt wishes for their success in all their future endeavors as agripreneurs.

Following a devastating drought last year that resulted in the loss of numerous trees in our farm, we at ROF are committed to planting more native trees, including neem, banyan, peepal, poo arasam, and fig trees, in order to enhance green cover and replace those that were lost.
To accelerate our efforts across a broader area and engage community support, we have opted for Seed Balls to facilitate aerial afforestation this monsoon.
We sourced high-quality native tree seeds from the experienced tree conservationist, Mr. Nagaraj from Dindigul, and began making the seed balls at our farm. To amplify our mission, we received assistance from a group of agricultural students from Government Higher Secondary School in Malaikoviloor. Additionally, we received orders from customers interested in distributing the seed balls at family gatherings and public events.
To enhance our initiative, we received an order from Mr. Karthick Ram, Ramkumar Industries and Young Indians team from Coimbatore. They intend to distribute the seed bombs to participants at the upcoming Marathon event during Coimbatore Vizha this month.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has played a role in this initiative, transforming it into a collaborative community effort.

At last, my concept of preserving paddy, millets, and various other seeds using resin has proven to be a remarkable success. This innovation will enable us to document all seed varieties as specimens in the seed bank for visitors. These slides take up less storage space and are easy to transport wherever needed.
Previously, transporting our seed collections to exhibitions and seed festivals was quite a challenge, but now, it has become a hassle-free experience.

An affordable alternative to costly solar drying units. We utilize the wooden floor space in our seed bank to create shade for drying various farm products. The Mangalore tiled roof effectively absorbs heat while ensuring proper ventilation, resulting in high-quality dried goods that we then process further.

Bamboo Biochar Preparation Using the Trench Method
After constructing our seed bank in 2020, we were left with a surplus of bamboo that began to degrade over time. To utilize this resource effectively, we decided to create bamboo biochar for enhancing our farm's soil and replenishing our biochar stock in the farm store. Given the length of the bamboo logs, our usual pit method was not suitable, so we opted for the trench method this time. Although we were initially uncertain about the outcome, we were pleased with the results achieved through this approach.
Trench dimensions: 3'W x 4'D x 6'L were good through this method

Getting Hands-On with Epoxy Resin for the First Time
I'm experimenting with epoxy resin to understand its properties and how it interacts with plants and seeds. My goal is to use this technique to showcase our collection of native Heirloom Paddy and Millet in the seed bank for visitors.
Insights from My Initial Experiment
The results were promising with seeds; however, when I used fresh flowers, the epoxy resin reacted with the moisture in the petals, altering their original color. To preserve the true hues, it's best to use dried flowers and leaves when working with resin.
