In the lands of backwaters and houseboats, where coconut trees line up the borders of the paddy fields, you can withness many small scale units of coir making which majorly employ women who supports their family through a livelihood from these units.
These women have many years of experience in the Coir making process that broadly involves extraction, cleaning and processing the fibre from the coconuts.

Tigers, one of the mightiest animals in the animal kingdom was found to be nearing to get extinct a few years before. In 1973, Project Tiger was launched to save tigers from getting rid of from the face of the earth.
Today India has witnessed a huge leap in the population of tigers with 75 percent of world's tiger count. There are 50 Tiger Reserves across the country with 2 from Kerala namely, Periyar Tiger Reserve in Idukki district and Parambikulam National Park in Palghat district.
