If you have 3 days to travel from Dehradun/Rishikesh to Harsil Valley, here's a suggested itinerary:

Day 1: Rishikesh to Uttarkashi
On day 1, start your journey from Rishikesh to Uttarkashi, which is around 150 km and will take around 5 hours to reach. You can visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi. You can also take a dip in the Bhagirathi river or visit the nearby Maneri Dam for a scenic view.

Day 2: Uttarkashi to Harsil
On day 2, ride from Uttarkashi to Harsil, which is approximately 75 km and will take around 3-4 hours to reach. Harsil is a beautiful and quiet village situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi river. You can visit the Dharali village, which is famous for its apple orchards and beautiful landscape. You can also visit the Gangotri temple, which is approximately 25 km from Harsil.

Day 3: Harsil to Rishikesh

… find out what it means to me.

I wonder if most bikers remember their first salute. I know I sure do. It was my second or third day of riding on actual roads, not just the parking lot of the Black Hills Harley Davidson where I took my motorcycle safety course.

I was popping just around the corner to the grocery store to run a quick errand. And I looked ahead down the road and saw an electric yellow Ducati heading my way. It looked so cool, so powerful, as if it were demanding all of the attention of the road… And here I was a little novice on my Honda Rebel.

I was still dealing with some hefty imposter syndrome at this point and didn’t feel like I was really I biker. But never the less I stuck my two fingers out and down towards the road. And my heart actually jumped with excitement as we passed each other and he returned the gesture. I don’t know this guy, and will probably never know him. But I felt accepted by him.

I still get the same feeling every time I salute a fellow rider. We’re saying to each other, “I see you. I understand you. I respect you.” That feeling is oftentimes enough to keep that motor running.

The highest altitude achieved on a motorcycle is 6,546 m (21,476 ft 4.54 in) and was achieved by Jiri Zak (Switzerland) on the Ojos del Salado, Chile, on 16 February 2020.

Jiri is part of the Grizzly Race Team which is a Swiss motorcycle team. Him and two other members, Urs and Adrian, took on the challenge, but Jiri was the one who went to break the .

Previously it was claimed to held by an Indian team of bikers who scaled Shamsher Kangri on Tvs apache in laddakh.

In a village claimed to be in Nagaland, people came together to pull a truck that slid off the road. Amazing feat and incredible display of the strength of unity!

The new BMW BS6 versions made affordable.

BMW has significantly lowered the prices on both the G 310 R and the G 310 GS. The G 310 R is priced at Rs 2.45 lakh while the G 310 GS is priced at Rs 2.85 lakh. Earlier, the R was priced at Rs 2.99 lakh while the GS commanded Rs 3.49 lakh. The new prices will definitely make the bikes more desirable considering the 310 R is on par with the 390 and Duke while the 310 GS significantly undercuts the 390 Adventure.

・・・
We are heart broken over here at ES today. Yesterday, our friend Zef Eisenberg was sadly taken from us whilst he was attempting his MSA land speed record. The crew on site reported that this incident occurred at the circa 250mph GPS while Zef was braking with the utilisation of a parachute.

If petrolhead had a meaning, Zef would have his name right next to it. This man had broken records on two wheels and four, a feat not achieved by many. We genuinely do not have any words left that have not been already said. We have lost a Friend and a Brother. Our hearts are open for his family and our condolences are endless. Never thought it would be this soon for us to say goodbye, but life has a way of showing us that not everything is promised. At least you lived doing what you loved and that is a legacy that will live forever. Goodbye Zef, Rest in perfect peace.

Zef Eisenberg 1973 - 2020.

Why do we drive fast?!

Is it because of the thrill?! or is it because of the feeling we get by going full throttle?

We do it because it is our escape from reality. For that split second we are truly free. Completely disconnected yet fully connected. Entwined with our machines. Its for those waking moments when we push ourselves and feel like we can finally breathe. Reality becomes dreams and dreams become really reality. As we have been gasping for air all this time.

So why do we drive fast?

Well, it's for those few seconds where speed washes away the pain. When everything Fades and there's only relief and feeling of contentment.

AT THE RISK of stating the obvious, some bikes are easier to customize than others. Pick a Triumph Bonneville or Harley Sportster, and you’ve got decades of knowledge to plunder on the forums. Choose a BMW R nineT and you’ll find lots of bits that come off without a grinder. And if you’ve got a Yamaha SR in your garage, there are literally thousands of parts available via Japanese online marketplaces.

If you want to make your life really difficult, though, a BMW GS is the bike for you. Even the early models are fiendishly complex, with oddball suspension systems and a massive spaghetti of wiring. So we’re giving top marks to Belgian builder Thomas Jeukens of Toma Customs, who has done a magnificent job on this BMW R1150GS Adventure.
