"SONGSONGTSU-IS A CEREMONIAL "Y POST ON WHICH THE SACRIFICIAL ANIMAL IS TIED TO AND IS ERECTED OUTSIDE THE HOUSE OF A PERSON WHO IS OR HAS SACRIFICED EITHER A MITHUN OR A COW. THE POSTS ARE OF DIFFERENT DESIGNS WHICH HOLD VARIED SIGNIFICANCES. THE SONGSONGTSO THAT HAS BEEN ERECTED OUTSIDE THE ARJUIS FROM LONGSA VILLAGE. THE DESIGN AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS POST IS ONE OF HAVING MADE MULTIPLE SACRIFICES OF BOTH MITHUNS AS WELL AS COWS. THE CANE BINDINGS AT THE BASE COME FROM THOSE THAT ARE USED TO TIE THE ANIMAL. THE FOUR BEAKS OF THE HORNBILL ARE CARVED ON TOP OF THE POST ONLY AFTER A PERSON MAKES A SACRIFICE OF BOTH A MITHUN AND A COW AND SIGNIFIES THAT THE PERSON IS COMPLETE IN STATURE AND POSITION. THE RED AND BLACK LINES (KOLEN) PAINTED ON THE BEAKS AND THE RED HAIR (RONGNARO) IS EVIDENCES OF THE DANCES PERFORMED BY MEN AND WOMEN IN THEIR COMPLETE TRADITIONAL ATTIRES DURING THE SACRIFICE. THEREFORE, THE EXISTING POST WOULD BE FOUND ONLY OUTSIDE THE HOUSE OF A RICH AND CAPABLE PERSON IN THE VILLAGE SINCE NOT MANY PEOPLE HAD THE RESOURCES TO MAKE MULTIPLE SACRIFICES
