As the sun set over the horizon while overlooking the river delta of the largest mangrove forests of the world, in the form of the Sunderbans, the local folk singer sat on a little dingy ( fisherman's boat) and sang his heart out of Bhatiali( a form of rural folk songs)...songs of love, of loss, of grief, of hope, of the rivers and the tides , of the boatmen and the their boats, of the crying heart for love and longing, of the heart in pain, looking for a belonging... of the river that is of sorrow, and of joy, and of life.

HIS MAJESTY...
ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT
FROM ONE OF OUR RECENTLY
CONCLUDED WILDLIFE EXPERIENCES THIS SEASON.
Meanwhile, Tadoba has just never disappointed our guests at East Quest on safaris in regards to sightings of tigers in particular. Here, seen is a fully grown territorial male yawning and resting at a waterhole to cool off from the afternoon summer. This male tiger gave us one of the best sightings of the season, sitting about less than 30 meters away for an hour and a quarter, undeterred by our presence and looking up as his royal self. He surely was the king in that jungle without a doubt, his confidence oozing on his face.

We're rounding off this season's tours with some really special and memorable moments from our wildlife experiences between March and April.
Here's one of the multiple highlights, this one from the jungles of Pench and actually captured on our guests IPhone. Here a young tigress is seen crossing our path first thing in the morning, with absolutely no other tourist jeeps around. This is how we usually like to track and show wildlife to our guests, exclusive and mainly to ourselves.

We have almost always had amazing sightings on all our Kaziranga visits while on safari with our guests especially when it comes to birds of prey.
In this little video, are two of our highlight sightings from our last week's visit in the middle of February; first is of a Brown Fish Owl, followed by an up close and personal sighting of a Grey headed fish eagle.
More highlights to follow in the coming days from the pristine jungles of the North East of India before we start traveling with our guests to India's central India between March and April.

A LITTLE BIRD BY THE FOREST STREAM...!!!
Amidst some of the rare and lesser seen birds of North East India, was a special sighting with this little flycatcher that lasted for a few precious seconds while we at East Quest were on our field explorations in the deep jungles of Mizoram last month; the White-gorgeted flycatcher appeared from the nearby forest thicket, had a quick drink, flapped its short wings, and off it went.
White-gorgeted flycatchers are forest birds found across undisturbed jungles of north-east India and other parts of South-east Asia. They keep a low profile, are extremely shy and seldom seen which is why we're all the more thrilled, excited and happy to share this small clip with all our viewers at East Quest.

Encounter with the elusive Assamese Macaque in the heart of North East India! 🌿 Often overshadowed by the more familiar Rhesus Macaque, this primate thrives in thick, undisturbed forests. Ironically, the most common sighting of this primate is that on the national highway going up to the hills of Darjeeling from the Mahanada forests of dooars in North Bengal.

In the realm of Mizoram's avian grace: The Blue-tail Minla, adorned in celestial hues, exudes regal elegance. A delicate sonnet in feathers, the Oriental White-eye, and the Rufous Gorgeted Flycatcher pirouettes with sophistication. The Golden Bush Robin, a gilded muse, unveils its majestic presence, while the Nepal Fulvetta shares its secrets in hushed tones. Sibias and Bulbuls, in a ballet of whimsy, contribute to this symphony of avian opulence, where each flutter becomes a stroke of elegance on nature's canvas.

A morning inside the deep jungles of Mizoram...inside Dampa, one of India's least visited tiger reserves.
The birds chirped away as the first rays of the sun illuminated the dark deep forest cover; later in the morning, the sounds that you hear in this little video clip are sharp distress alarm calls of primates ( including both Assamese and Stump tailed Macaque) followed by that of Red Serow signalling the presence of a predator down in the valley. Although we did not get a sighting, yet to be around the presence of a cat, possibly of common or clouded leopard inside Dampa, was an absolute thrilling experience.
Meanwhile, this is how we celebrated India's republic day and so here's wishing all our Indian explorers, travelers, nature enthusiasts and naturalists had a wonderful Republic Day on the occasion of 26th January 2024.

🌿🚙 The magic unfolded at a junction deep within Pench's heart, where a juvenile leopardess graced us with her presence on a greyish rock, framed by the bare dry forests and the azure skies, basking in the soft morning sun. In the footage, we can see her slowly walking away after the initial sighting🐆🍃
A rare encounter in a territory usually ruled by tigers and wild dogs, etching a mesmerizing scene forever onto our memories. 🌅
