The shikra (Accipiter badius) is a small bird of prey in the family Accipitridae found widely distributed in Asia and Africa where it is also called the little banded goshawk.
They are usually seen singly or in pairs. The flight is typical with flaps and glides.

The word Shikra is borrowed from the Urdu word (شِـكْـره) which is derived from the word shikari (شِكارى) meaning hunter.

Interesting fact: An Indian Navy helicopter base was named INS Shikra in 2009.

But still the poachers looms large. We often get news of this majestic animal being mutilated.
I pledge we rise together and try to stop such activity and help the Protector of our Jungles live freely and happily.

Early Morning Safari. Just after entering the Jungle at 06:00 A.M we heard frantic alarm calls of spotted dear. Our driver Sonu Kumre rushed in the direction of the call and right infront our eyes emerged this huge male called IV mark male in . It was an absolute treat to the eyes to witness his highness's presence.
