King Mahabali is coming again. Atachamayam is the first day of the 10 day celebration of Onam and starts with a parade in Thripunithura near Kochi. This procession commemorates the visit of King Mahabali to Thripunithura together with his entourage.

The state of Kerala is named after its many coconut trees. This fruit is slightly rich but full of minerals and tasty. The water is very refreshing and its pulp healthy. This nut is utilised in many ways such as after drying the pulp the oil is used for cooking or beauty, the protecting fibre on the outside of the nut is turned into rope.

These auto rikshaws are amazing: they transport people (almost any number), heavy loads, squeeze into every traffic gap, turn at really sharp angles, go up the steep hills with well-proportioned people in the back and nowadays also run on gas. Kasim, of course, is the best rikshaw driver in the whole of Kerala.

Another acquisition: very happy to have found a terracotta water tank which keeps the drinking water cool plus avoids plastic. Luckily the quality of the water is good at Padmini House as we have our own well.
