The Kothar is an ancient system of storing food grains in villages.
These Kothar or Kuthar are separate rooms usually in the courtyard for storing food grains. These are made of wood with a low roof and a small door. The interesting part of these structures is the Two Lock system found in them.
The first lock is embedded/built in the wall and the second lock is latched on the door.
The first and most important lock is opened by inserting a rod and rotating it. The second lock is like a normal lock that is opened by the key.
Nowadays modern locks are used as the second lock but you can still find old locks made by local locksmiths. These are still in use and are far more durable and tougher than the modern ones.
