Drive through Ladakhi winter.
Drive through Ladakhi winter.
Ladakh is cold desert in the middle of Himalayas, mostly with blue sky, even in the winter months. The high peaks around form a barrier for low, rain and snow clouds. Ladakhi valleys are mostly spared from the snow unlike the rest of mountain ranges around.
The rocky landscape without any greenery makes difficult to say what time of the year it really is. Unless you step out of your heated car and experience the freezing air.
Busy Himalayan Bee
Bees have been recognized by scientists as the most important creatures on earth. They contribute to the production of 60-90% of the food that man consumes.
At Alchi Resort's garden and eco farm they contribute to the 100% of fruits, vegetables and grains production. In return we plant for them more apricot and apple trees each year and the second season in row – the buckwheat.
Did you try buckwheat honey yet? It's rich in flavor, dark in color and simply delicious.

Place where the wild life meets civilization. Episode 2: Himalayan Yaks crossing Highway 1 in Ladakh.
The next day after we captured ibexes we’ve been on the road again coming back to Alchi. This time we spotted Himalayan Yaks standing at the side of the road. Learned by experience with ibexes also this time we stopped and called Yaks to cross at the right moment. And they did :)
*we’re experienced animal guides now :)
Please be patient and give wild animals the time!
