Greater Yellow-nape Feeding Blue throated Barbet?

एक सुंदर शाम, जब मैं बर्डिंग कर रहा था, मैंने एक ग्रेटर येलो-नैप की आवाज सुनी। उसे खोजने में मुझे कुछ ही सेकंड लगे, और मैंने देखा कि वह एक पेड़ पर बैठा है। जब मैं थोड़ा और करीब गया, तो मैंने देखा कि एक नहीं, बल्कि दो ग्रेटर येलो-नैप एक पेड़ के छेद पर बैठे थे और उस छेद से कुछ खाने की कोशिश कर रहे थे।

मेरी जिज्ञासा बढ़ गई और मैं ध्यान से देखने लगा। अचानक, एक ब्लू-थ्रोटेड बार्बेट आया। वह कुछ क्षण रुका, दृश्य को निरीक्षण किया, और फिर सावधानी से उसी छेद के पास पहुँचा। बार्बेट ने अपना समय लिया और अंततः छेद के अंदर चला गया।

उस पल कुछ अद्भुत हुआ। ऐसा लगा मानो ग्रेटर येलो-नैप बार्बेट को खाना खिलाने की कोशिश कर रहा हो। यह दृश्य मंत्रमुग्ध कर देने वाला था, इन दोनों सुंदर पक्षियों के बीच का अप्रत्याशित समन्वय।

यह वास्तव में एक सुंदर और अद्भुत क्षण था, जिसे मैं हमेशा संजो कर रखूंगा।

One fine evening, while birding, I heard the distinct call of a Greater Yellow-nape. It took me only a few seconds to locate it, perched on a tree. As I approached, I saw not one, but two Greater Yellow-napes sitting by a tree hole, seemingly trying to eat something from within.

Curiosity piqued, I watched intently. Suddenly, a Blue-throated Barbet appeared. It hesitated for a moment, inspecting the scene, before cautiously approaching the same hole. The Barbet took its time, and eventually slipped inside.

At that moment, something incredible happened. It looked as though the Greater Yellow-nape was trying to feed the Blue-throated Barbet. The scene was mesmerizing, an unexpected display of interaction between these two beautiful species.

It was a truly beautiful and marvelous moment, one that I will cherish forever

Tailor birds use their beaks as sewing needles and spider silk or plant fibers as threads. They pick up a leaf or a large piece of a leaf and make a series of tiny holes along the edges using their beaks. Then, they use the spider silk or plant fibers to stitch the leaf together, creating a pocket-like nest.

The tailor bird inserts the needle-like beak through one hole and brings it out through another, effectively sewing the edges of the leaf together. They repeat this process multiple times until the leaf is securely stitched, forming a cozy and well-camouflaged nest for their eggs and chicks.

Oriental pied hornbill is known for its unique nesting behavior. This species exhibits a fascinating nesting habit known as *"Walling-in."*

When it's time for the female Oriental pied hornbill to lay her eggs, she enters a tree cavity and seals herself inside using a combination of mud, fruit pulp, and her own droppings. The small opening of the cavity is then almost completely closed off, leaving only a narrow slit for the male hornbill to pass food to the female and later to the chicks.

The female remains inside the sealed cavity throughout the incubation period, relying on the male to bring her food. The male hornbill diligently feeds the female and later the chicks by regurgitating fruits, insects, and other small prey items through the narrow opening. This cooperative breeding behavior ensures the safety and security of the female and the growing chicks within the nest.
