As we come from a delicate environment, our priority is to work in sync with the nature, keeping in mind the importance of preserving and protecting fragile ecosystem of Ladakh.
100% of our staffs (tour leader, guides, office staffs, cooks, porters, and drivers) are local, providing jobs and stability to the local economy. Being Ladakhis all of them have deep knowledge, commitment and enthusiasm for the region. They are people who have in-depth understanding about the history and culture and know the local people as their friends and folks, with their wealth of knowledge and passion for their work. They share real experiences of their own lives, their families, influences and beliefs that provide a deeper understanding of the local culture, people and the place thereby giving your travel experience a more of local touch. Stok Guru Tsechu is a unique and vibrant Buddhist festival celebrated in Stok Monastery, Ladakh. The festival is held on the 9th and 10th day of the 1st month of the Tibetan calendar( February-March).This festival is special because it features masked dances by monks and an oracle prediction ceremony, which act as spiritual mediums to deliver prophecies and guidance to the people. Stok Guru Tsechu is quite similar to Matho Nagrang, particularly in its tradition of oracle predictions. However, one key distinction is that the oracles at Stok Guru Tsechu are not monks but laymen from the local community. These individuals undergo intense spiritual preparation and purification under the guidance of Spituk Monastery’s lamas to become temporary vessels for divine spirits.
During the festival, these oracles—believed to be possessed by deities—enter a trance-like state and provide prophecies, guidance, and blessings to the people. Meanwhile, monks perform masked cham dances, depicting stories of good triumphing over evil, adding to the spiritual and cultural significance of the event.
