It was such a joyous moment for all of us . We had hit the road early in the morning that day from Bhalukpong, hoping to get lucky enough to witness the winter snow at Sela Pass. It was a bright sunny morning and we had a quick stopover for a hot Momo break at Bomdila; to everyone’s surprise the weather suddenly took a U turn. The bright , colourful sun is now gone and the entire valley took a humid look.

We thought that it would soon be raining and we have to cut short our plan. It was just half past 12 and it’s already looking like 6 in the evening. We got in our car and carefully took out our treasured scotch and started filling our plastic glasses.Someone had ordered some chicken snacks, which was surprisingly finger licking tasty , and we later ended up repeating several times .

Suddenly we witnessed some white droplets in our windscreen and we preferred to ignore thinking it to be some early small droplets before a heavy downpour and we resumed our conversation. We noticed that the droplets had grown thicker and by now there is almost zero visibility through the windscreen .Someone pointed out that the temperature at the cluster meter is showing 2 degree.

We slowly rolled our windows down. And saw that within a matter of minutes the whole valley is covered with a white blanket of snow....

And we went crazy....

Its was a blessing in disguise for all of us. The highway running from Dimapur to Kohima was being constructed and we had the privilege of taking a village route to reach Kohima. It was a pretty rough terrain of almost 65kms, although we come across to find some beautiful landscape..

A trek for life ....
Ever thought about what a long, unending trek would feel like? Dzukou Valley trek is a moderate to high intensity trek,where you come across some steep rocky cliff and snow clad slippery terrain.At times we felt like giving up (thanks to our sedentary lifestyle) , but eventually as we climbed up and had the glimpse of the valley far away, we just got charged up!!

Before the British,the kings of Assam built expensive and complicated construction while the local survived in huts made from mud-plastered bamboo walls and thatched roofs.Once the British arrived,they accessed the environment and then designed and constructed comfortable,asthetically pleasing homes referred to thereafter as Assam type house.

Assam is reeling in floods but these group of women are busy fishing for their survival. Every year a large section of people situated in the low lying areas of Assam have to suffer during the monsoons due to water rushing from the neighbouring hill states of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya..
