Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy (JRD) TATA - The Father Of Indian Aviation
The Indian Women's Pilot Association (IWPA) & Tata Group Celebrate the spirit of JRD Tata!!!
In his tribute, Capt. Aarohi Pandit, re-enacted the exact conditions that JRD Tata faced in 1932 - JRD Tata’s historic first flight from Karachi to Mumbai Juhu airtstrip via Ahmedabad, that took off on October 15, 1932 with No GPS, No autopilot and only 60 Litres of petrol.
Capt. Aarohi, , the world's first woman pilot to cross the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean in a Light Sports Aircraft (LSA), took off from Bhuj Runway that was rebuilt by the women of Madhapur within 72 hours during the Indo-Pak War, refueled at Ahmedabad and then landed at India’s first civilian airport in Juhu on October 15, 2021.
Aarohi carried a mail from the surviving women of Madhapur who rebuilt the Bhuj runway, and presented it to the young women of suburban villages of Maharashtra.
JRD Tata's first flight on Tata Air Services came alive after 89 years!!
We at NEXUS India are elated to have had the opportunity to support Aarohi's endeavor to bring this historic moment to life and exemplify JRD’s first ever flight.
A Proud moment also for us at NEXUS India to have our own Woman Ms. Sadaf Herekar, empowering & heading our Flight Operations for NEXUS India & this flight.
