Morning light through Lucknow Rumi gate✨
🔹The Rumi Darwaza (Gate) is an incredible structure which stands imposingly between Bara Imambara and Chota Imambara in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Constructed in 1784 under the rule of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, it is a fine example of Awadhi architecture, or the Lucknow School of Architecture. It was a style adopted by the Nawabs of Awadh to preserve the Mughal architectural style while experimenting with newer styles and materials.

🔹Rumi gate is one of the heritage attractions in Uttar Pradesh and it once served as the entrance to the old Lucknow City.

🔹Meghalaya is an unending affair between the tall pines and the clouds. Hence comes the name "Meghalaya" - the abode of clouds. The British fell in love with the place and dubbed it as the "Scotland of the East'. The Garo, Khasi and Jayantia hills dominate the landscape of Meghalaya.

🔹These are the living root bridges in Meghalaya, India. Local Khasi people used to grow the bridges almost like bonsai trees. For decades khasi were forming a bridge which is actually alive and growing further. In person it feels like you are in some fantastic Alien movie, crossing the cradle of roots. This bridge, for instance, started to grow in 1840. For 180 years it became a true masterpiece. To get here we traveled together with and pretty far to North east india, almost at the border with Bangladesh. For the last weeks I've been traveling in remote areas of India, starting with Ladakh, then Meghalaya, Nagaland and currently in Bandhavgarh. Stay tuned for some fresh photos from India.

🔹Glaciers surround the upper Beas region from three sides, the highest peaks going upto 23,050 feet. The trek from Chanderkhani Pass at an elevation of 12,200 feet, leading to the Malana valley is the most beautiful attraction in the area💯

🔹The town is spread out like a leaf of a pipal tree; and unfolds on the slope of Han peak. Naggar was the capital of Kullu for about 1460 years; there's a charming lineage that's now left behind. A classic example is that of the Naggar Castle, which was built in the 16th century, but has now been converted into a hotel with a spectacular view and a superb location💫

🔹 You can just visit the property and check out its intricate wood carvings and the breath-taking views of the Kullu valley and surrounding forests. You could even grab a cup of tea at their terrace restaurant, with the mild fragrance of cedar in the air🏞️

Hawa Mahal ❤️

➡️ The massive edifice of Hawa Mahal stands at the intersection of the main road in Jaipur, Badi Chaupad and was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799. Hawa Mahal derives its name from its unique structure, which is a mesh of small windows that allowed cool wind to enter the palace and hence kept the palace comfortable during the hot summer months. The main reason behind the palace's construction was to allow the women of the royal house to observe the festivities on the streets whilst being unseen from the outside as was the custom of the land. It is located right on the edge of the City Palace Jaipur and extends right to the 'zenana'.

🔹Hawa Mahal is a structure made of red and pink sandstone and has a pyramidal structure which almost resembles a crown. It has been embellished with 953 tiny windows, also known as 'Jharokhas' and embellished with gorgeous latticework. From within, the Hawa Mahal palace is based on five floors each of which has a uniquely decorated chamber. A charming fountain welcomes you inside the main palace, from whereon you can make your way up to the different floors. The top of the palace offers a brilliant view of the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and the ever-busy Siredeori Bazar. There is a small museum as well which holds some rich relics and miniature paintings.

👉 This beautiful monastery is locked between the rocky spurs at the top of clif in the Dhankar village at an elevation of over 3,800 meters in the Spiti valley. It is a 16th century old fort monastery, which has also served as a prison in the erstwhile era. The Dhankar Gomba is over 1000 years old and is connected to the rest of the valley through a Motorable road, which is good for small vehicle only. There is a new monastery in the small village of Shichilling below the old monastery.
👉 The fort of Dhankar now lies in ruins, but still is a place worthy of a visit. From the remnants of the fort one can see vast expanses of the Spiti valley. It is also of art and historical importance.
