Kombdi Vade is a traditional chicken curry from Konkan. This flavourful chicken curry is made with roasted spices, roasted onions and coconut ground to a fine past. This spicy smooth curry is traditionally served with fluffy flat breads called ‘vade’ which resembles a ‘poori’. It is made with a dough of rice flour, gram flour and split black lentil flour flavoured with cumin, coriander, aniseeds and chilli powder and deep fried. Very often a small hole is made in the centre of the Vada. You can also enjoy Kombdi rassa with various millet bhakris. Readymade Vade Bhajni flours are available in local grocery shops in Mumbai & anywhere in Maharashtra. A glass of ‘Solkadi” and some sliced onions with lime will complete this fantastic Konkani meal.
The full moon shines brightly in the sky, making the smaller stars almost invisible in its brightness. The air is cold and thousands of devotees in Konkan lit oil lamps in temples to light up the night. It is Tripuri Pournima, the Hindu calendar's 15th Lunar day in the month of Kartik & the 2nd most important Shiva festival after Shivratri.
According to a popular tale Shiva killed the demon in his form as Tripurantaka (the killer of Tripurasura) on this day. This day is also known as Dev-Diwali or the Diwali of Gods as Lord Shiva saved all the Gods from Tripurasura.

Keshavraj Temple, Dapoli
You have to walk a scenic trail to reach Keshvaraj Temple. During the trial, you will find the path is covered with palm groves and coconut trees, which is believed to be there for hundreds of years.
Once you reach the temple after passing a rivulet, you will see the Peshwa period architecture of the temple and the beautiful idol of Lord Vishnu in the temple.

As Navratri, a nine-day festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga. It is a time of great joy and enthusiasm, and people from all over the country come together to celebrate this festival with great fervor. If you are planning to visit Konkan during Navratri, there are several places that you should consider visiting. Here, we will explore some of the Devis In Konkan to visit during Navratri.
1) Bharadi Devi, Angnewadi, Malvan
The Bharadi devi temple is located in the village of Masure. Anganewadi is a small hamlet of Masure village. The Bharadi (Earth Goddess) devi is famous for her wish-fulfilling(Navas) power. Her devotees express their wishes (Navas) before her and once the wish is fulfilled they come again for a Darshan (visit) to express their gratitude. Anganewadi is known as the Pandharpur of Konkan.
2) Devi Bhagwati, Malvan
Bhagwati Temple is considered to be a powerful deity who fulfils all the wishes of her devotees. The beautiful temple complex has a serene artificial lake - the Dhamapur lake in its premises, with crystal clear water offering a divine vibe and a tranquil atmosphere for the visitors. The lake water is believed to be just as magical as the Goddess herself.
3) Vindhyavasini Devi, Chiplun
Vindhyavasini Temple is situated in Chiplun's Ravatale village. This temple of Vindhyavasini is most likely from the Yadav era and she was worshipped since the ancient times. The moorthi is very beautiful and stands in the aggressive form of Mahishasur Mardini. During Navratri a grand celebration is held for the Goddess.
4) Shree Chandikadevi, Dabhol:
It is a temple devoted to the goddess Chandika, one of the avatars of Devi Parvati. The temple is on the mountain top near Dabhol. The temple is a natural cave & the idol is in one single stone carved naturally. According to anecdotes, Chatrapati Shivaji Mahraj visited the place after successfully acquiring Dabhol.
5) Mahalaxmi Devi, Kelshi, Dapoli:
Shree Mahalaxmi Temple at Kelshi is one of the most important temples in Konkan. Devotees from across Konkan belt and all over India visit this temple each year to worship the goddess and pay their respect. Along with the temple the Rath Yatra of Goddess Mahalaxmi is also very famous.
6) Durga Devi Temple, Guhagar:
Durga Devi temple is unbelievably intricate carvings, sea–faced, a pleasant and culturally important temple of Maharashtra. It is the “Kuldaivat” for many brahmin families. The calmness of the sea, and mesmerizing greens around with the sanctity of this place, bring us utmost peace and relaxation. The temple is crowded with devotees in the Navaratri festival as the devotees come to seek the blessings of goddess Durga.
7) Aryadurga Devi, Rajapur:
Many devotees come to visit this temple. The fair of Aryadurga Devi and Navadurga Devi (Bhalavli) is also famous, which occurs in October in navratri on eighth day. It is a historic, religious and spiritual place in the hideout of nature covered area of Konkan.Goddess ARYADURGA is the Kuldevi of many Karahde Brahmin.
8) Mahakali Devi, Adivare, Rajapur
It is one of the most popular and revered temple in Adivare. The temple is a small yet well-maintained, which is a home for three goddesses viz. Goddess Mahalakshmi, Goddess Mahakali and Goddess Mahasaraswati. The sanctum is designed in such a manner that once in a year, the setting rays of the sun falls on the face of Goddess Mahalakshmi for three days. Navratri festival is celebrated from Ashwin Shuddh Pratipada (Ghatsthapana) to Vijayadashami (Dasara). Fair in Navarati Festival is considered as one of the big fair in Rajapur.
9) Bhagwati Devi, Ratnagiri
Shri Devi Bhagwati Mandir is located inside the Ratnadurg Fort in Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra. The presiding deity of this temple is Goddess Durga, who is also the patron goddess of Ratnadurg Fort. This temple is also noteworthy for its traditional architectural style.
