Bhavana Agashiwala who was working with a travel agency, qualified with a diploma of IATA / UFTAA (Geneva) - Standard Course and started Columbus Travels in May 1984. n quality service. By offering sincere guidence and counselling, the Company made rapid advancement. Columbus Travels was accreditated to IATA in the year 1992. In the year 1995, the Company became Private Limited and was named Columbus Travels & Services Private Limited of which Mrs. Bhavana Agashiwala is the Chairman & Executive Director and Mr. Himanshu Agashiwala is the Managing Director. During the same year, the Company was approved by the Reserve Bank Of Inda as a Foreign Exchnage Money Changer. In the year 1997, the Company established "Columbus Training Centre" with Mr. Radhakrishna Menon
(ex-Lufthansa German Airlines) as its Principal. The Training Centre started conducting courses of Air Travel Management and Science Of Selling. Very soon the Training Centre was approved by IATA (Montreal, Canada) to conduct their diploma level courses (Foundation & Consultant Levels). The Training Centre also conducts courses of Central Reservation Systems, Business Travel Planning and Service Skills. Indian Wonders, a division of Columbus Travels & Services Private Limited was started in 1999 to handle domestic, inbound and outbound tours. Since 2002, we have joined hands with a reputed IATA travel agency from Durban, South Africa for promoting tours to India under the brand name of Indian Wonders. From the time of inception upto December 2007, we have handled approximately 8000 passengers in India for leisure travel for periods varying from a few days to upto 02 months. Besides South Africa, we also handle pasengers from the UK, USA and Canada. Presently Columbus Travels & Services Private Limited has ventured into the Insurance sector. We process and issue Mediclaim, Overseas Mediclaim and Vehicle Insurance policies. Besides IATA, Columbus Travels & Services Private Limited is also accreditated to the Department Of Tourism of the Government Of India's Ministry Of Tourism, Indian Association Of Tour Operators (Active), Travel Agents Association Of India (Active) and Travel Agents Federation Of India (Active).
