Omba Ney, Taktshang of the East

Did you know that Omba Ney in Trashi Yangtse is known as the Tiger's Nest of the East? Like the Paro Taktshang, this unique temple is built on the face of the cliff overlooking Toedtsho gewog with a spectacular view of mountains and deep gorges.

Locals believe Omba Ney is blessed by Guru Rimpoche. It was first discovered by the descendants of Guru Chhoewang. This is where Guru Rimpoche meditated and left a few imprints in a rock. Terton Pema Lingpa is also believed to have blessed this sacred site.

Be sure to hike in proper hiking boots as the terrain is rough. Carry rain gear as this part of the country experiences heavy rainfall in summer and early autumn. You can also visit the Omba village located at the base of the cliff where you’ll come across the only homestay of the Omba.
