Jungle Calling

Jungle Calling At Jungle Calling we wish to invite and embrace all who want to know more and appreciate the subtlety of the forest, its habitat and its ways. No.

It all started back in 2012 with the jungles of Pench (Madhya Pradesh) where we did our very first safari. What started out as just a desire to stay at a lovely property and spot the Royal Bengal tiger actually took us on to a completely different journey. Did we see the tiger on our first excursion ? Once again the big cat eluded us when we went to Kanha. It was in our pursuit for the tiger sigh

ting we actually learnt to appreciate the forest. We enjoyed the sights of other flora and fauna too. Our drives went beyond just sighting the Tiger. Watching rare birds, different landscapes and enjoying the various other sights and sounds of the forest became just as enjoyable. As our hunt to catch a glimpse of the big cat spurred us on, the thrill of watching our first spotted deer or the chittal enticed us and lingers on even today.. It was only in Bandhavgarh that we had our first sighting of the Tiger and its a moment that will remain etched in our memory forever!! Its been four years to the day when we did our first safari and there has been no turning back for us. Its become a part of our lives. Our son Aaryan who was just 3 when we made our first trip was as enthused about wildlife as us. However it was only after we returned from our most recent trip to Ranthambore did we feel the strongest urge to share our passion and perspective of the forest with all those who are enthusiastic or who wish to know more about it and it was then that we realized that this has always been our calling ! Thus came about Jungle Calling. There shall be lots of memories to hold on to and if thats not enough well the jungles always calling.

The four-horned antelope (Tetracerus quadricornis), or chousingha, is a small antelope found in India and Nepal. Its four horns distinguish it from most other bovids, which have two horns (with a few exceptions, such as the Jacob sheep). It is the sole member of the genus Tetracerus.

I begin the New Year with a solo trip to Panna National Park. Over the last few years I have realised that every now and then travelling alone is rejuvenating as well. It started out as going for recce’s but then become an annual ritual 😊 Have u ever travelled alone?

Most will just be amazed looking at the size of the tiger but if u look for detail u will learn a lot more about that particular individual… for example you can make out that this particular male has been feeding on a kill by looking at how full his belly is and the blood he has on his chin… an experienced naturalist will also tell you that he is crossing to go looking for a waterhole where there is a possibility of seeing him next… A Jungle Calling naturalist will tell you we will spend time today evening on the same road waiting for this individual to come out again…

Since English speakers are accustomed to the plural of "goose" being "geese," it might feel strange to say "mongooses" when referring to more than one mongoose.
