Jungle Calling

Jungle Calling At Jungle Calling we wish to invite and embrace all who want to know more and appreciate the subtlety of the forest, its habitat and its ways. No.

It all started back in 2012 with the jungles of Pench (Madhya Pradesh) where we did our very first safari. What started out as just a desire to stay at a lovely property and spot the Royal Bengal tiger actually took us on to a completely different journey. Did we see the tiger on our first excursion ? Once again the big cat eluded us when we went to Kanha. It was in our pursuit for the tiger sigh

ting we actually learnt to appreciate the forest. We enjoyed the sights of other flora and fauna too. Our drives went beyond just sighting the Tiger. Watching rare birds, different landscapes and enjoying the various other sights and sounds of the forest became just as enjoyable. As our hunt to catch a glimpse of the big cat spurred us on, the thrill of watching our first spotted deer or the chittal enticed us and lingers on even today.. It was only in Bandhavgarh that we had our first sighting of the Tiger and its a moment that will remain etched in our memory forever!! Its been four years to the day when we did our first safari and there has been no turning back for us. Its become a part of our lives. Our son Aaryan who was just 3 when we made our first trip was as enthused about wildlife as us. However it was only after we returned from our most recent trip to Ranthambore did we feel the strongest urge to share our passion and perspective of the forest with all those who are enthusiastic or who wish to know more about it and it was then that we realized that this has always been our calling ! Thus came about Jungle Calling. There shall be lots of memories to hold on to and if thats not enough well the jungles always calling.

When a tiger claws a tree, it’s not just sharpening its nails — it’s leaving a powerful message. 🐅🌳
These vertical scratch marks are a way to mark territory, signal strength, and warn rivals: This land is taken.
Each swipe leaves behind scent from glands in the paws, making it both a visual and olfactory message board in the wild.

Hoolock gibbons are known for forming lifelong monogamous pairs and singing duets to mark their territory and strengthen their bond! Their calls echo through the forest like a love song from the treetops.

Summer Glory…
Tigers are surprisingly quiet drinkers. Unlike domestic cats who lap quickly, tigers use their massive tongues to draw water with smooth, deliberate motions—each lick creating a perfect ripple in the stillness of the jungle.

Leopards are the most adaptable big cats — they thrive in environments ranging from rainforests to deserts and even urban edges. Their stealth, climbing ability, and nocturnal habits make them elusive masters of survival!!!

Many years ago, on my first visit to Satpura, a friend pointed out a ghost tree and said he dreamed of photographing a leopard on it someday. That moment stayed with me. It became my dream too.

Two days ago, at Pench National Park, that dream came true.

The ghost on a ghost tree.
A memory etched forever.
