Wood Working Workshop
During the winter camp 2024, wood working workshop was conducted by our camp leader, Arvind .
The kids had quite a time during this workshop. They learnt the basic techniques of wood working and used their imagination to create small pieces of art during the workshop.
Working with wood made the campers comfortable with basic cutting tools . It was an exercise of creativity for the kids .

Sitting amidst mountains and basking in the sun while learning new things.
Definitely something no parent would want their kid to miss in this fast paced world.

WINTER CAMP 2023 DAY 1 :
Participants and parents were welcomed at BTW HQ. From there the participants were taken to the camp site on a 4X4 camper.
The participants had a fun filled day interacting with each other over lunch .
The opening camp fire was the attraction for the day.
Kids were excited to share tents with new fellow campers.
They shared stories around the camp fire after a wholesome dinner.
Finally tucked in their cozy tents, the day ended in excitement for the days to come at the Winter Camp with Beyond The Wall.

Isn't devotion a very strong feeling?
It makes you do things that otherwise seem almost impossible. If someone is asked to go take a dip in freezing water, he would say no. But when it is something to be done with devotion, the dip will be taken. And not once but 108 times too.

Dai is one of our porters during our Khopra ridge Trek. This particular batch wanted to add Muktinath temple in the end so we made it happen for them.
Our porter walked through 108 fountains, and then dipped in the pool at the end, twice! Devotion at almost zero temperature, while we didn't dare remove even one of our layers.

Would you do it?

While network connectivity in Nepal is something we keep talking about, the reality is that antennas have found their way into the landscape to give us the wifi we so dearly hog. So while we can post photos we clicked of sunrises and sunsets using the wifi, these antennas might soon hinder the very photos we want to post.

Every positive has a negative or is it the other way around?

This is what photo bombing looks like! ;)
If you see behind Yash .mountainfinder , the sun is setting, the moon is rising and well Yash is photo-bombing this natural beauty. Or maybe he is getting the perfect backdrop wala photo.

Whatever it might be, plan your Trek to Everest base camp in a way where you reach Kala Patthar on a full moon day. It could be one of the most beautiful scenes you'd ever witnessed.

Alpine chough - These non-shy birds, a part of the crow family are seen in abundance in the Indian & Nepal Himalayas.
So bold are they that they come up close to you instead of running away and also sn**ch food out of your box.

A walk through a Rhododendron forest is a walk to remember. But when it’s raining, it's a surreal experience altogether.

These trees bloom during springtime, so it's almost time to see them in full bloom.

Doesn't it look like a village from some European town?
Well, it's a high-altitude Village in Nepal!
Located in the lower Mustang valley, this village called Marpha is as picturesque as a Himalayan town can be..
This village got our hearts with its architecture and also its apple brandy, too European, we know! ;)
Filled with amazing apple orchids, the apples taste as sweet as honey.
If you are planning a trip to Nepal anytime, do try to visit Mustang Valley, it's beautiful.

The Rock climbing community (as we have mentioned numerous times) is why we conduct our workshops and introduce people to climbing so that they can climb anywhere in the world.
But it's equally a joy when climbers from across the world come to visit our crag and climb with us. The community feels whole then.

This weekend we had Sudha, a climber from the US who came over to the crag and what left us in awe of her, apart from her incredible climbing was that she decided to camp at the crag and spend the night there too. She spent the night camping under the stars and continued climbing the following day.

Such stories and events inspire us, it makes us believe that the world is a wonderful place and that humanity exists.

Keep climbing, keep exploring, and keep spreading the love!

Ever thought about the family of tea house owners? Do they live with them, do they live elsewhere, are there schools around?

Well, of course, we can't generalize but here in the Annapurna circuit, the tea houses in the lower altitude where there are villages around, the families stay with the owners. The kids go to school in the village until high school after which they head down to the flatlands for higher studies. Similarly, as we go to the high-altitude tea house, we've seen families there too. As the trekking season coincides with summer vacations, there are small kids who come along with their parents to live here during the season and head back to the winter homes during the off-season.

So yes the trail has families around, and you get to see the happy smiling faces of the kids in most of the tea houses too.

Pack your bags! It's time to come to Dhanaulti with us.

Introducing our latest addition to rock climbing - our weekend Dhanaulti trips which means we will now be conducting weekend rock climbing trips and not just the one day workshops. These trips will include rappelling, camping and of course rock climbing.

However what we are most excited about is the 150 feet high rock face from where you will learn to rappel, it is sure to get your adrenaline pumping!
And if the above reasons aren't enough to convince you, here is one more - you will camp under the stars while also being able to see the sparkling city of stars -(Dehradun) from the campsite, it's a magical campsite.
And of course, the newly bolted routes waiting for its climbers.
We can't wait to take you there and give you a weekend you will remember for a long long time!

Check our website for more details or DM/Call us to hear all about it.

The heart of every tea house - its dining room! This is the place where cultures meet, where people greet and laughter flows.

Hot food, cosy seating, a warm fire and lots of trekkers from all over the world. It doesn't matter if you are in a group of two or ten, in a dining hall you are sure to make more friends.

This is also one of the reasons we love trekking in Nepal - the interaction with trekkers from other groups, some on expeditions, some to the base camp, and some just fulfilling lifelong dreams, all in one space.

Head to Nepal for your next trek and experience it yourself!

Rock climbing as we know is all about climbing rocks but the way we conduct it is also about connecting to nature.

Our crag is next to the flowing Song river, at Maldevta, which is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. As the water flows, the sound of it whooshing past forms the perfect backdrop for a day of climbing.

Added are the occasional animals - the monkeys that try to show who the better climbers are, the shepherd with his flocks, and the friendly dogs that drop by, all create a holistic touch with nature, making the day in the outdoors also about connecting with mother earth.

There is always more to things than what meets the eye :D

Memories - aren't they an integral part of life?
We at beyond wall, do cherish memories and Ayush recently developed a film roll and came across this picture clicked at the first party we had with participants from our workshop who became independent climbers. (it was b'day :))
This photo was taken in Manali, where we went climbing together and what a memorable trip that was.
Celebrating such moments, especially after a good day of climbing and then after months getting to see the photo - joys of life!

Catching them at a young age is essential. That's what we realised when we were a part of a clean-up drive with Sikkim Himalayan Academy sometime back. Ayush who was there says the kids were extremely enthusiastic and more than willing to keep their surrounding clean when shown the way.
The owner G.S Gurunj Sir runs this school for underprivileged children, giving them free education, accommodation and books and we can see how happy the kids are, can’t we?

That's why we now want to focus on outdoor education, where we can instil these positive mindsets and benefits of the great outdoors as soon as we can!
