Kinnaur , also known as Dev Bhumi "The Land of God", is a very beautiful place ... a tribal district in the northeast corner of Himachal Pradesh, bordered by Tibet to the east, about 235 kms from Shimla, the state capital. The people of Kinnaur district are honest and kind, co-operative and hardworking and have strong cultural beliefs, generally following Buddhism and Hinduism. The Zanskar range

is to the northeast and the crest forms the eastern international border of India with Tibet. The main Great Himalayan range runs from northwest to south and the Dhauladhar range forms the southern boundary, merging with the main Himalayan range in southeastern Kinnaur. There are three Wildlife Sanctuaries in Kinnaur:
The Rupi Bhaba Sanctuary,
The Chhitkul Rakchham Sanctuary and
The Lippa Asrang Wildlife Sanctuary

Endangered species of animals such as the Snow Leopard, Bear and Musk Deer, and rare pheasants such as the Monal and Kaleej are found in theses reserves.
